You are correct, Sir:

I forgot the Vettes and now I remember seeing stories of confiscated drug dealers and pimps cars put into use by Local and State Police Departments.

I would expect that the European exotics would only experience one mechanical breakdown or accident before they were taken out of service.  Even normal periodic maintenance on a Lambo would break the bank for most Police Departments.
