I´ve always liked the idea of flower parades, because of the strange contrast / mixture of metal / technique and biology / plants.
I´d really like to see some of your pics here, too.

Batch #2:
-
Do you have any information about the last photo, the Singer SM1500, or is it a Hunter? What is that all about? :)
-
It´s been part of a 1956 parade in Australia, the photo has been named "HCC 5", and I´ve found it along with the Beetle pic below, which I´ve filed as "Lawrence 56" that´s all I know:
-
Thanks. I suppose it makes more sense (if it makes any at all!) for it to be a Hunter, though the profile of the bonnet looks more like an SM1500. Just interested as my father bought a secondhand Singer Hunter in 1964 as a "runabout" for my mother to use, and it was one of the first cars I ever drove.

Wow, this one is really special. Do you know, which event the ladies did attend?
The skull is a really stark contrast... :o
-
It was taken in Helena, Montana: Car decorated for the 1907 July 4th Carnival. Note the human skull atop the radiator.

How flowers can emphasize the character of a Mercedes-Benz 130 H:

Another rear-engined one:

Blumenkorso_05 really sets off a bad case of cognitive dissonance. A flower-covered tank (apparently a tank-like replica) with much humor and laughter in the crowd.
Btw, in the US (just in case you didn't know) "flower cars" are those vehicles used to transport floral sprays and wreaths from a funeral "home" (or "parlor") to a cemetery, usually in the funeral cortege behind the hearse and the limousines in which the deceased's family rides...more or less.
Those vehicles that are covered in flowers for parades are usually called "floats." Not to be confused with British "milk floats."
Since I've known parade cars, "floats" have lacked the car shape and are generally built on a bare chassis (last photo.)
I don't know what parade cars/floats are called in other parts of the world...or even different parts of the US. I'd be interested in finding out more, although I've learned a bit about German terminology.

Thank you!
@Ray:
I'd be interested in finding out more, although I've learned a bit about German terminology.
"Blumenkorso" is the term that describes the event, not the cars. I don´t even know a specific word in german, to be honest.
But as you´ve said it would be most interesting to find more photos from other countries and learn new terms...?
-
Here are a few more. (Some have only a few flowers)
-
I really like the starfish decoration of #3 in your last post.
-
Thank you!

I think "Blumenkorso" could be loosely translated as "flower parade."

That guy in the back wanted to decorate the car with wieners! He could have cooked them in his girlfriend's headgear.

Nice idea, but the "wieners" look like pretzels to me. ;)
BTW, the car is a Wanderer 6/30 PS Typ W10/I.

Pretzels need cooking, too. :D

Amazing collection there Otto
Some of the more modern attempts are somewhat pathetic compared to many early examples though......
-
Thanks!
Indeed, the newer examples seem to be no more than a blanket or garland of flowers dropped onto the hood or rear deck.
Here is a mixed set of (mostly) more adventurous attempts, in various sizes:
-
:)
-
Another lot

No. 19 looks as though all they did was drive a tractor through a dense hedge......!

More housekeeping. I hope these are fresh flowers (i.e., not repeats)! And, yes, #11 is a bit of a cheat. :)
-
I never saw anything alike in my whole life.
Todays car´s surfaces are just too smoth and clean to fix anything on them.
And I can´t remember any parades over here in Germany despite carnival.
Would be nice to travel back in time to watch one odf those events...
-
I hope this is new.
Bill
-
I forgot this one. Both this and the above photo may be in the 1920s, I could only take the dates from the source.
Two minutes later................
I just noticed this is the same car with the same sponsor business but apparently two different occasions/parades.
