Seems wheels and tires have always been seen as custom accessories.

Otto, if it is okay with you I would love to move this thread to the Feature Photography section and link it off of the main page.

AutoPuzzles member otto has assembled an impressive collection of vintage & prewar automotive advertising. He has shared with us the following scans from his collection, for which we owe him a debt of gratitude.

You can see many more pages of the scans here:

Would anyone be interested in writing a few paragraphs about vintage automotive art found in these ads?

I could really use it to help promote the site.  Your writings will be digitally published as a feature article here and linked on the front page of this site if you choose to take up this torch and bear it.

Great stuff, though!

Boxer,

Will you, please, write a few paragraphs, say 5 or 6, about these ads and what it is that makes them great?

If you would do that, I will promote it all over the net and use it to promote this site and these pages of art.  Please consider taking this torch up.

Sincerely yours,

Charlie, Karn and the rest of the AutoPuzzles gang.

Whoa, does this mean I've got to start paying you tuition?

I'm not much of an expert on this sort of thing but I'll give it a shot. With finals coming up, it might have to sit on the back burner for a couple of weeks.

It ends tomorrow, but I have a LOT of things on my plate right now and (no offense to Autopuzzles) this is pretty far down my list of priorities. If you want a piece written up about these ads, you could do a whole lot better than me, considering my almost complete lack of knowledge about cars from this era as well as the history of marketing in the 20th century.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I come on these forums to chat about cars and blow off steam, not to receive essay assignments. I'll try and write *something* for the site in the future, but it may not be about this.

AutoPuzzles wasn't really asking you for your time.  I was.  That is cool.  I just needed to know if you did have this on your plate or not.  Your contributions, posts or in whatever form, are always going to be welcomed here.

I'm really not trying to be a dick. I've got one more final tomorrow and it's a whopper, plus there's a bunch of other crap going on that I don't feel like diving into right now. I'm just a little on edge right now.
