Tiger Tool No.14 – Industrial Vacuum Cleaner
Please don't connect the fact that I have just got married with this new fascination with hoovers!!. It happened before we were married.....honest!
When building your Tiger out in the garage it's surprising how much dust, dirt and metal fragments accumulate in and around your work area.  When it all got a bit too much I decided to have a bit of a tidy up. I had seen SWMBO pushing around a rather noisy fluorescent appliance which she assured me was a 'hoover' and that "I should try it sometime".  Taking this as an invitation to use her beloved 'DYSON', I ventured out to the garage with the plastic R2D2 for a bit of a spring clean.

After about half an hours work all of the rivet nails, swarf, iron filings and assorted debris had been sucked up into this magical device and were dizzily circulating in the clear plastic dirt box for all (SWMBO) to see.

It was later on, in Casualty, while lying 'face down' on the hospital bed waiting for the nurse to return with the crevice tool removal device, that I thought perhaps I should purchase my own hoover for garage use!.

I found an Earlex Wet & Dry vacuum cleaner in B&Q for about £35. It has an 1100W motor, 1.8m hose, 2 extension tubes and a crevice tool, which I have hidden!! (no, not in the same place!).

It's been a real asset out in the garage helping to keep things a bit tidier. The powerful suction makes short work of rivet nails, nuts, bolts, small furry animals and
even puddles of liquid.

I used it after most drilling operations as I didn't want swarf hiding in all the crevices, or scratching shiny surfaces. Because it's kept near to hand it's no trouble to plug it in and clear up debris after each little job. It's quite a sturdy little chap and seems well up to surviving the rigours of garage life, and of course lessens the chances of 'battered husband syndrome'
