Ah - I had this one line up for 1100 and was just waiting for someone to post 1099!:

I was about to post the same observation.

I hadn't realised I'd reached the magic number, such is my engrossment in this game. Thank you for the felicitations.

I had an Austin 1100, and recall a rubbery gearchange and a weird pitching motion on undulating roads.  I wonder if the MG 1100s that Alan Foster raced had the hydrolastic suspension replaced with something more traditional?

I had an Austin 1100 Mk 1, an Austin 1100 Mk 2 and a 1300!
They were good cars for their time: handled well, performance OK and had loads of space.  No doubt BMC lost money on every one they sold...
