Somebody was patient enough and dedicated 15 years of his life to develop a car encyclopedia with:
7000 car brands
70.000 car types
700.000 photos.
They just started uploading it here:
http://www.all-car-brands.com/ (http://www.all-car-brands.com/)
They are not many cars right now, but i saw an uploading pace of 50 to 100 cars daily.
All of them have photos, but not wallpaper size, most of them have a description, sometimes small, sometimes huge, and some of them videos.
The good thing is that every brand uploaded is complete with no missing models.
PS: I already saw some cars i didn't know about, some of them good for the puzzels. ;)
-
Good for him (this is a project by a university student - according to his Facebook site). I am curious how it turns out.
-
That's interesting!
-

I don't think this is possible at all... but it's indeed an interesting project!!
-
I think it will take quite a lot to have all the missing models...if it ever will be possible!
I'm working on a similar project too and I know it's an huge work!
-
Probably almost impossible ....
Anyway in my opinion, is that he needs 5 to 6 years to upload that huge database, because he needs also to add the new cars that emerge and after that 3 to 4 years to search the missing cars because surely he missed some cars, it's impossible not to miss them because of the large number of them.
Anyway , i admire all of you who do something like this.
-
This website is the all cars project. It always has been and always will be. Any other will merely pale in comparison and will always be forced to refer here for all the cars they missed.
Autopuzzles - The encyclopedia of rare automotive esoterica. No other site, no other book, no one else even comes close.
-
for the all car encyclopdeia there should be cooperation, ni competition, there is the only way to do it...

Well, i will argue him, then...
-
I have got a reply for my contact for question wich was: "It's such a petty this car encyclopedia cannot be used as a encyclopedia is supposed to be... free for everyone to use.
"Nothing on this website can be used in any form without prior content of the actual owner" as you stated in the background.
"reply for your question send via contact for,
Thank you for your question.
Well, that is not and never had been my intention, i have never read that text, i guess that makes it my mistake.
I suppose that the web design company written that text over there, byecause they maybe supposed that it had to be written.
In my discussion i have told them only about CSS and the fact that some texts are written by me and others are press releases and i will write under it "From company press release".
I will contact them wright now, to modify the underground text for free use.
Thank your question and helping me to correct this shamefull error."
ps: he typed an "," instead of "m", i saw that kind of mistake in the website few times, he needs to slow down...
-
Why don't you just tell the guy to join us here? It is obvious he would fit in and I'm sure he is gonna end up here anyway eventually. I sent a congratulatory email to the website contact page and invited them here as well.
Thanks for the info.
-
He's here!
Welcome. Enjoy the site. You have done a yeoman's effort with your all car index. If we can be of any help around here, just ask.
Sincerely,
Charlie Oncina II

Hello jhonny.drift, helo Ultra ( i guess you e-mailed me as admin), hello everyone.
Nice to meet you on this beautifull website, i love that puzzele, but sadly my time is limited so i will not partcipate.
I want to congratulate you all for this beautifull comunity. This is one of the few places where i can find cars that i didn't know about and that is more than appealing.
I will post stories of some interesting cars i have found, when i have some spare time, please just provide me a link here where i can do that.
1977 Volvo 363CS
This is a sport compact car, built with the intention to compete with top european sport compacts like the Golf GTI but never reached series production because of bigger costs then expected. Only 11 copies had been built by Volvo R Sport, using a 2.6 liter, V6 engine developing 135 PS. The power was transmitted through a 5 speed manual transmission. Today this cars are very appreciated by collectors.

Hi,
If you are unsure where to post something use the Vintage section:
http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?board=5.0
Thanks for joining us and try to spend some time here. I'm sure you will enjoy it. You owe it to yourself to check out the Solved puzzle section:
http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?board=23.0
Call it research and grab a bag of popcorn. You're gonna be there a while.
-
Thank you for your warm welcome.
I will post there.
You can bet i will spent my time over there, i already did, few times before, i feel like a kid in a candy store over there.
If anyone knows additional information for this australian Arcapadine Mystere.
I only know it's from 1978.
It seems to me like it's built on another car, but i can't tell for sure without a front photo. Are there any other models built by this brand?
-
I just wrote to the guy and invited him to join us here. I also offered my help with proofreading and any other assistance I might be able to provide.
We'll see how he feels about those suggestions. Interesting. I see that he signed up as I was writing to him. "Crossed in the email" so to speak.

ps: Feel free to use any phot or information found on www.all-car-brands.com, but please specify the link to the page where you took it from.
Don't be scared by the underground text, the last row is there by mistake and will be changed probably on monday, when the web designer is back to the office.
The only thing wich will not permitted is to copy the whole content on another website or the whole content of a brand on another website. I just do not want that anyone else to say "he made it and is his copyright".

australian Arcapadine Mystere
This was just a body kit for a Holden Torana, probably the LX. I've seen a lot of stories and articles about this car over the years, it had something to do with Recaro.

-
I found that Arcadipane was (and maybe still is) a supplier of fiberglass add-on body components, located in West Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia.
As my sons and daughters-in-law might say, "how very 70s!"
-
Are there any other models built by this brand?
So far we had as an AutoPuzzle

Thank you all very much, this information is more than helpfull and since i couldn't find it anywhere else, this is the place where i think i will receive the best help.
I will try to come here more oftenly, but i'm working very hard on the car encyclopedia, uploading the content.
I was not inspired and in this 15 years the texts were written in Romanian so i have to translate them in English.
My intention is to keep the pace i have right now, between 50 to 100 car types a day and that translates in 8 to 12 hours of work on daily basis.
I have managed to add over 100 cars yesterday so that's the only reason keeping me from coming here.
PS: I have got some proffesional help, from "RayTheRat", wich i have to thank him again.
If anyone elese wish to contribute, i really need some help on the cars that were built in very small series or just a a few copies or never got passed the prototype phase, custom cars, race cars wich were not built with the support of the manufacturers, modified cars or formula cars.
The modified cars, formula cars (f1, indy, etc) and race cars built with no support of manufacturers are not included in this 7000 cars and 70.000 car types number, i have worked in the last 15 years.
Help is neded mostly because this informations about rare cars are available sometimes only in the area they wetre built and are hard to find using the internet, not top mention how hard is to find press release photos or the ones with CSS copyright.
PS: If the texts on all-car-brands.com, do not have any other statement below them, it means thay are written by me and can be used anywhere for posting (with a link to the page they were taken from).
If you do not see 50 updates on one day, then something important occured, if you do not see any updsates for 3 consecutive days, i probably died of extenuation. Besides this there is nothing that is going to stop me from fullfiling this dream.
Nice meeting you and thank you all, again.

Need some help for Samsung:
http://www.all-car-brands.com/automotive_brand/samsung/
I do not have any photos or information about two Samsung concepts:
SEV-I 1992
SEV-II 1993
It's is a slim chance, but this is the only place where i have got a chance to find this info.
Somebody from South Korea should know about them
Thank you guys for the effort.

My own project is many year sin the making. I allow people to access the information for free, but some think that gives them the right to republish without credit, stick adsense ads on it, dilute my traffic, kill my earnings and make me have to take on contract work instead of researching car data! I have over 25000 models from 1100 or so manufacturers. Each model is captured by hand - my hand! Not one car in the database was captured or researched by anyone else. Which is why I am not happy when thieves simply take it and republish it.... there are estimated 20+ domains with my data simply republished. I would let it die before I charge for access to it, so if that means it dies, well, it dies... which I think would be a pity.
Anyway, enough moaning... any help for my project will be very gratefully received.

Thank you for your help "zaktoo".
I know about your website, it's a lot of info and i know how muc work it is.
Putting it head to head this will consume few years of my life.
I have just stareted uploading everithing in alphabetical order.
By the way this forum is very helpful, i have found cars that i do not have in my database. So apparently 15 years to make it was not enough ;)
Since i got a great deal of help here i have took the liberty to ad a link and a banner to this forum here, in the links/partner section.
http://www.all-car-brands.com/links/
I hope that is ok.

Well, i have to thank you again.
PS: i have posted my first autopuzzle. I do not know what that poll thing is.

Hello.
I am back with some news; i have dropped the website idea, from various reasons and now, whren my database is complete i have just started to mad a book series called:
"The most complete car encyclopedia"
This series will have more than 10.000 car brands and 50.000 car models (i have stopped counting them, so this is an estimator as it could be more but not less).
The book series covers all the car categories: series production, concepts and prototypes, race cars and coachbuilt. There are also included kit-cars and single-seater racers.
I'll be back later with more information.
PS:
The first volume is already printed and available (see pics in the attachment) and covers all the car brands from AA to AL and their models , totaling 362 car brands and 1353 models.
You can see some pics of it in the attcahment.
-
I'm happy you post it here...I'm sure this is the best place where you can find people interested in your work.
I already saw it on your facebook page and it's terrific...for the 1st time 'the most complete' claim is true!
We exchanged few mails already and you know what I think about...I can put my thoughts here, but I'd prefer to see what other thinks about.
Be sure I'll have a copy of the whole opera sooner or later.
-
Thanks !
We meet again.
Yes indeed, this could be a good website for my work.
PS: I'm stunned !!!!, you have 14,263 posts... That tells a lot of your car passion.
-
Hey, and don't forget my 1429 points! ;)
Email sent.
-
Some more photos in the attachement. Just made them today.
-
I have some good news.
If everything goes as planned, the online store will be ready by the end of this week.
-
Cool!
I already know, but I'd like you to explain here how this encyclopedia will be released.
I'd like to know the opininon of other members about (some of them are writers\publishers) and see if they share my thoughts.
I like it very much.
-
Good point.
I guess i felt just like talking to you, when posting here, so probably that's why i was so brief in my presentation.
I have just started writing a good description of the project, especially for this forum. Do you think i should post it here, in the ex car website tread, or make a new tread called "The most complete car encyclopedia" ??
-
My opinion is that you should use this section:
http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?board=31.0
Now it's no more a project, but a real book and that seems to be the right place!
-
Thanks.
:)
