A huge shout out to Bezor for whom I credit the idea for this thread!
I saw this Thing today.

New or old, classic or beater, if it was something interesting, odd, exciting or revolting, post a picture of it here.
Here's one sitting in my driveway:
I was home all day yesterday with my lady. I didn't see any cars.
Today I drove the GTO for the first time since before winter.
Passed one of these yesterday on my motorcycle. They were doing a solid 55.
Starting working from home this week. I haven't even been in the garage today, so, I've seen none.

I frequently see this Panamera

I have seen one or two Panameras on the highways and byways. And I have to say, they are not awful. How's that for damning with faint praise. Of course, I have always thought the Cayenne is an ugly duckling, yet it has been one of Porsche's most successful products. All of which goes to prove once again the wisdom of my old Irish grandmother's saying: "There's no accounting for taste," said the old lady as she kissed the cow.
Yesterday in Hillman!?!?

Today I made a small tour on a boat in Amsterdam.
I made a few pics of cars:
1. 1969 Citroën Type HY, with its original license, in Rechtboomsloot. Between 1963 and 1970 these were assembled in Amsterdam, recognisable by colours not available on French built HY's and, on later models like this one, by the non-suicide doors.
2. This is the Citroën building (from 1932) on Stadionplein, where the HY assembly took place. On the left is the 1928 Olympic Stadium by the same architect, Jan Wils.
3. 1967 Citroën DS 21 Mécanique in Kromboomsloot, with a license plate from 1994.
4. Some old scooter on Kromboomsloot.
5. 1970 Volkswagen 1300 Kever (Beetle) on Kostverlorenkade. Actually its (original!) license dates from 30 December 1969.
6. Alfa Romeo Spider coda tronca, on Locatellikade.
And on the short walk from where I got off the boat to my place:
7. 1981 Volvo 262 Coupé on Amstel between Royal Theatre Carré and Hermitage museum, with a Dutch license from 1996. In my opinion one of the ugliest cars ever...
8. 1988 Volvo 780 Coupé on Amstelveld, with a Dutch license from 2008. A friend of mine used to have one and several times I had the opportunity to drive it - terribly boring.
9. 1956 Morris Minor 1000 on Amstelveld, with a Dutch license from 1997. In daily use summer and winter...
10. The remains of a threewheeler from the 50s used for delivering groceries, flowers, bread or milk, on Amstelveld. The owner told me these were called 'luie hond' (lazy dog), and the engine was a French Bernard.
11. Another threewheeler on Amstelveld, I guess from the late 60s.
12. 1967 Volvo 121 Amazon wagon with a Dutch license from 1998 and our daily user 1991 Citroën BX, seen out of my home window.
Last winter I made this picture of the Morris Minor:
The Lazy Dog is apparently made by Centro of Schiedam.
The 3 wheeled delivery moped was made by another Dutch company, presumably Gazelle.
Thanks!
I love Amsterdam. Wish I would be there again in the near future.
The Bertone Volvo is one of my absolute favourites.
The scooter is probably a Piaggio 125 (at least it looks a lot like the one of an old mate of mine)
I was shocked to come across this Innocenti De Tomaso turbo - amazing what is in Southern Alberta.

QuoteInnocenti De Tomaso turbo
Don't believe I have ever seen one of these, ahem, beauties! ::)
An Innocenti De Tomaso... that must be a big surprise in Canada, indeed!
I checked the scooter from the other day: a 1965 Piaggio Vespa Super Sport.
Today made a pic of a 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220 S with US-spec lights (in Holland since 1996), on Binnenkant. An everyday user, drives on LPG.
And a 1969 Mercedes-Benz LP911/48 with Ackermann body and trailer.
And a 1960 Scania-Vabis L-5543.
These trucks were on Nieuwmarkt where they were part of a nostalgic fair (tomorrow it's Queensday, one of the biggest parties all over Amsterdam)

Isn't there just one? Ah you mean drag queens...
Sure, many qeens will be out there as well.
Two weeks ago I visited our garage and I made this pic of te garagist's transport, a self-built Citroën CX 8 wheeler...
That is a great transporter - I've seen a couple CXs converted like that but that is the longest one by far. Some nice stuff behind too.
Wish I had a camera at hand to prove it: A Pierce Arrow!
Very cool pictures, Mike! :applause:
I know a guy in Portland who would love that Citroen.
Thanks, MG, yes, that's quite a long. long thing, that CX...
the two Pamhards in teh background aren't too bad neither ;)
The light blue one is a Dyna Z1 with all-aluminium body and chassis (except the actual suspension and axes), more than 40 years before the all-aluminium 1994 Audi A8... though the big taillights are from a 1957-1959 Dyna Z, and teh engine is also a bit newer (I think from a circa 1965 Panhard 24 CT); the red one is a 1961 PL 17 [L4]. The owner is the secretary of the Dutch Panhard club.
We, or I should say most of us, know little or nothing about Panhards in the US, except that lots of cars used to have something called a Panhard rod as part of the rear suspension, which I think was a link that kept the rear axle from sliding out from under the chassis during cornering.
Thanks for the explanation. An all aluminum car that long ago is exceptional, no doubt about it! :o
I have a friend from another site who lives outside of Amsterdam and drives a 1962 Lincoln Continental. I wrote a story about his Lincoln last year. Here's the LINK (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-21840-Providence-Automotive-Examiner~y2009m10d12-Dutch-Treat) I have sent him an e-mail and suggested he might like this site. We'll see if he shows up.

Ah, the rare Paul Bunyan suspension option. ;)
I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, Otto... But if you mean the suspension was gigantic in size and weight, I have to disappoint you. At the front are high and low transversal leafs, at the rear are two suspension arms with triple torsion bars, weighing some 5 kgs (12 lbs) each. I made a pic of one of these rear suspension units, with a bottle of wine as reference of the size ;)
Just a playful jibe, as you used "axes" in place of "axles". Given the heft of those parts, the Bunyan doesn't fit.
;D

I am not allowed to solve it, but it does not seem that hard anyway.
Really?
p.m. me your idea then.
I saw it too...in its regular colour, not that yellow!

Only just discovered this section as I don't go hors piste away from the puzzles very often. I now realise I should, as this is great fun.
I saw this now-rare in Britain Datsun Sunny 12Y Coupe outside my office window today, doing a track day along with a bunch of Lotus Elises, Ariel Atoms and Caterham Sevens. It was surprisingly fast!

When I was there, I would guess it was still rare..... :)
Well, not today, rather about a month ago, but I think you'll love this. I would not dare to post this as a puzzle as even I don't know who created it. It was powered by a DKW engine and was made in Hungary
Lovely!
I was at the Tour of California as it passed through town. I rode my new to me Trek road bike to see the race. Nissan is a coporate sponsor to Trek (who Lance Armstrong rides for). There were a bunch of Nissan's around as a result.
Nevertheless I was surprised to be stopped at a light as I left the race next to one of these

Pictures to follow, but yesterday around 5pm saw a Lancia Lambda. Lovely sound.

Barcellona, yesterday..
(I was not able to take a pic of the 3rd vehicle...but it was parked near the Aquarium...)
Te electric 3-wheeler was spotted in Gran Canaria as well.
Spotted this Alvis, while killing time in a monster traffic jam to Antwerp today (2 hours for 40 km, should have taken my bicycle ;))
Austin Cambridge, a couple of MGB's, Vauxhall Cavalier, and some others I can't recall as I was before a traffic light and needed to be looking out for that too
In Hillman of all place:

That reminds me: Sunday I saw a Rolls-Royce (prewar, but need to see what type exactly) and a Jaguar (Mk 2 I think).
Ultra's post also reminds me:
I saw a new Maserati Gran Turismo in Hilmar, CA. I think the population is like 10. The usual one stop sign, one gas station 7-11 type store in a dusty backwater Central Valley town.
One hour ago I saw a beautiful 1962 Lancia Flavia convertible (by Vignale), just around the corner from where I live:
A Ginetta in Wicklow (and some oldtimers) pictures to follow later
Jaguar XK120
Land Rover Defender
Skoda Felicia Fun
Ford Escort
Dennis
Mini
Ford Popular
Ford Zephyr
Austin A45 Cambridge
Austin A55 Cambrigde
Ginetta race car
Foden Alpha
Triumph TR2
(and resized the pictures to a somewhat better format)
Spotted this 1937 MG TA today. Sadly I only had my crappy phone camera with me
The day before yesterday I saw this ate 1973 BMW 3.0 CS in (rare) convertible version...
Not very common in Holland, this 1994 Lancia Delta HF Integrale that I saw this afternoon (while almost everybody here was watching teh football game Holland - Slovakia...):

Such a badass little runt. A true bulldog fo sho!
Was at a friends beach house in Capitola, Ca. Usual F360 (about three different ones, all red). A few Porsche 996s. Massive amounts of BMWs.
Across the street from where we were staying was a Tesla. At first I dismissed it as an Elise, but the lettering on the rear caught my eye as it spelled out "TESLA". I was hoping that it would be there when I got back from my ride so I talk with the owner and snap some pic and maybe bum a ride. No luck, it was gone when I got back from my ride and I didn't see it again.
I saw this Tesla early May this year in Amsterdam:
This afternoon I saw this interesting taxi in Amsterdam: a 2008 Eagle Motorsports EG6043KR (this is the official name of this vehicle, but I think they could better find a different, more commercial name for it...):
Today I saw this 1958 Citroën 2CV AZL on a construction area of the new Underground in Amsterdam...
Today my best friend and I went (by 1957 Panhard) to a meeting of the Dutch historic car race club (HARC) on the Zandvoort circuit. Lots of Porsches, Morgans, Minis, Corvettes, Falcons, Marcoses, Escorts, Cortinas, Mustangs, Ferraris, Abarths... But frankly speaking, we didn't really like it. We prefer travelling by classic car rather than racing with them.
Nevertheless I think these pics might be interesting:
1. Magirus with Dutch Hainjé body (1953, originally a military vehicle)
2. Ferrari Dino 246 GT from 1971
3 and 4. Ferrari 250 GT with Pininfarina body from 1955, with an original license from 1956.
I've a bit of time to spend at the moment so I thought I'd post some images taken over the last two or three months in the car park just outside my apartment -
Firstly - a batch of small cars - very common here in the South of France.
These should be from top to bottom -
Aixam
Ligier
Grecav
Grecav (from rear)
Daihatsu
Mini Moke (and another on the extreme right)
Secondly - some larger cars -
Top to bottom
Peugeot 203 pickup
Citroen Light 15?
Jaguar Mk.2
TVR V8
Jaguar E-Type
Austin-Healey
and finally - a handful of interesting cars -
Top to bottom
Lotus Esprit
Auburn replica
DB Panhard
Delahaye
and for everyone who thinks it's always sunny here -
my Audi A6 in March
Great pictures, Woodinsight! I especially like the Delahaye :)
The Citroën Light Fifteen is called 11 BL (Berline Légère) in France, the one shown here dates from 1953+ (big luggage boot).
The DB Panhard is actually a 1964/65 Panhard CD, designed by Charles Deutsch (hence CD), after the collaboration with René Bonnet came to an end. I once had the privilege to drive one. It is incredible low and fast (with only a 2-cylinder 848 cc engine...).
The Panhard CD is actually owned by an elderly French gentleman who often seems to be posting letters when I see the car. It sounds awesome and much more powerful than its 848cc would suggest.
Thanks for the correction!
The Delahaye is a Model 135MS with a body by Ghia Suisse (or Ghia Aigle as it's sometimes known).
