Title: An Observation and a Question
Post by: Otto Puzzell on October 23, 2016, 06:44:50 AM
Interesting phenomenon on the internet – especially as it relates to cars.

Quite a few websites editors / owners pull pictures of rare, old or unique automobiles from other websites, or from copyrighted print materials, and then post them on their own websites, after slapping a watermark on them.

Is this to prevent somebody else from doing what they did?

They might just be too stupid to know why watermarks are applied!
Maybe they just think it advertises their site...

It's about name promotion and awareness, IMHO. And it works.
