Upon unlocking and entering my back door of my restaurant today, I immediately noticed the office light was left on. Funny, I thought to myself. I then went to the front of the restaurant where I discovered my front door had been pried open. Further checking, the till was empty and the change bag in the desk in the office was emptied. Nothing else was touched or ransacked. The police and I both think it was someone who knew the layout of the place. I think the employee I let go for theft is behind it. They got $335.00 in cash. My deuctible is $500.00. Even after the repairs to the door, I am gonna be out $500.00 bucks.
Que sera sera.

That is fucked up crap.
Yes.
Yes it is.

That sucks - by the sounds of it the police won't bother looking into it either.

You know, I hear they're making tremendous advances in automated defense systems these days. A motion detector and a .50 caliber machine gun make for a winning combination.
Is there any way you can pin it on your thieving former employee? I don't know how things work in small town, USA, but down here the police wouldn't be inclined to do much in a case like this. Why bother solving a real crime when it's much easier (and more profitable) to bust some poor bastard with an eighth in his pocket or that commuter who has the nerve to do 62 in a 55?

Sorry to hear about the break in Ultra. :(
We were hit this year, "some one" took our security fence apart, and cut a generator off a trailer.
The only thing was, we hadn't fixed the problem with the unit yet.
We were out of pocket $500.00 as well, our deductable.

How much would a small security camera cost? I don't know much about this subject, but I'll bet the thieves have a working knowledge of deductibles and such...sounds like somebody was out for revenge.
You feel violated when something like this happens, but remember that it could have been much worse...
Do you offer the police a discount? Several restaraunts and businesses I've worked for in the past have...it might sound like you're trying to buy protection, but if you establish a relationship with the law enforcement community, they'll have a stake in what happens there, too...
