Title: Poll: Rust Never Sleeps
Post by: gbitas on November 13, 2008, 01:05:49 PM
I've been sitting and thinking how to answer some certain puzzle on this and other forums, then it hit me. Why are we all wasting our time on PC trying to to describe old rusty automotive mechanisms instead of going out or doing something more useful. Feel free to discuss and take a vote at the poll.

You know, gbitas,

Sometimes people mustn't have problems with social life to discuss "old rusty cars". I believe, people who are the members of this community are not those who just have nothing else to do or loves to brag about car knowledge to friends. There are many other forums for amateurs. If You suppose "Cars is the only thing we know" I'd say we know many other things - and cars the best ;) And that's not hobby for most of us, that's passion!

P.S. I also highly recommend You to browse SOLVED section I am sure You'll find something beautiful (and not rusty  ;D) there...

Although I believe it is a legitimate question, I feel that there are legitimate answers that have been left out. As it stands, the poll is simply too cynical. Allow me to add some replies that should have been included:

6) I enjoy researching the archane, delving into trivial minutae, rolling in the stench of long unseen archives, sniffing out trails left by the trails of the merest whisps of an esoteric hint. Respect me, for I am a Trivia Bloodhound.

7) I am rainman. Definitely rainman. Wapner's on in 5 minutes. That's a Knibbs & Parkyn Bentley, never an HJ Mulliner. Definitely Crosbie & Dunn. Wapner's on in 4 minutes.

8) My dear friend, as a Certified Automotive Historian, I have invested thousands of hours into research, cataloging and cross checking all makes and manners of Automobile that interest me. Naturally, I am only interested in the finest of automobiles and, for me, that can only be when the designers, manufacturers and engineers operated from a single mind. Of course, I speak of the brass era, specifically later development between 1911 and 1913. British only, understandably. Anything else is simply not worthy of anybody's attention, as far as I am concerned.

8) BrrrrmmmmmbrrrmmmmmBWWWAAAAAAASCREEEEEEBWWWAABWWWAAAAABWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....SCREEEEEEECCCCCHHHH!

9) See that over there under the tree? Yeah, the rusted one. No, the one under the tarp. That's a Dual-Ghia. Beautiful in its day. Wish it ran. The other rusty one under the tree? Oh that's a spectacular Aurelia B50 Convertible. Tinworm got to her, I'm afraid. Never ran right to begin with though. I had more luck with the three Fiats you see over there in the ditch. The GTC was fun for a sunny day when you didn't have to be anywhere on time and didn't mind walking back. Those? Well those are my Triumph Stags. Let me tell you about them...

10) I just like cars.

Somebody is asking slanted questions because they can't solve the puzzles... ;D

I touched your thread up a little bit, gbitas.

Think about whether you want me to start asking you uncomfortable questions before you start another one.

I suck at answering auto trivia questions, I'll throw in some guess, but I'm not gonna do much more that surface research.  That doesnt' mean I don't enjoy other aspects of this forum, cranky members and all.
