Found a really nice Matchbox model of a 1961 E-Type Jag the other day...it's red and has knock off wheels[not wires] that might not be prototypical, but for 97 cents, who cares?

Dan

Matchbox has been coming out with some pretty cool cars recently. I want to find the hearse!

I don't know about the hearse, but there are some really cool 1/87 car from Malibu International Ltd...I have a Ford Taunus, a couple of Mercedes 300 SL's, a VW Beetle {Kafer], a VW bus, a Poesche 356 and a Karmann Ghia pulling a little trailer.  Each comes in a little plastic display case, for about 2 bucks a pop.  The Ghia/Caravan was 3...

Dan

Neat.

Saw a most interesting sight on the highway yesterday...a red Chevy Aveo hatchback with a rear window sticker that read, YEAH, IT'S GOT A HEMI...I laughed so hard I missed my turnoff...

Just recovering from a hellacious week. Skiied and partied all last weekend, then three consecutive exams this week. By the last one, I was getting my botany and ecology all intertwined. We'll see how this goes.

Also, the roomies picked up a cat from the animal shelter yesterday. Kind of nice to have some animals around the house... just nobody tell the landlord.

I said I'm sitting here watching, matchbox hole in my clothes. I said I'm sitting here wondering, matchbox hole in my clothes. I ain't got no matches but I sure got a long way to go.

Yup...the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life is not being born to wealthy parents.  I wonder who I can sue......

Tifosi

Sounds like everybody's had a colorful week...

I got my bike out last weekend and cleaned it up getting ready to ride (and face $3/gal gas prices again this summer).  The temp last weekend here was mid-forties and sunny and the long-term forecast (via the Weather Channel) showed warming trends and sunny days.  By Wednesday, we had freezing rain and it was nearly a white-out condition last night.

grrrrrrrrrrr

Reinforcing once again my long held belief that the accuracy of local weather forecasting would be greatly enhance if there were to be an actual window in the meteorologist's office!    :P

...and this forecast, to emphasize, was from THE WEATHER CHANNEL....WHERE WE DO NOTHING BUT WEATHER....WHERE WE STUDY NOTHING BUT WEATHER AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT THINK, BREATHE, EAT, SLEEP, WEATHER.... >:(

I need a ride.... 8)

Lucky you!
Here it has recently gone down to £3.86 per gallon: o.k. we have nice big Imperial gallons, but you'd still have to translate that as over $6/USgallon >:(

In my experience, the Weather Channel doesn't have a clue when it comes to this part of the country. It's really quite arrogant to think we can predict weather in the mountains. At Glacier, when I would dispense hiker/tourist info, I'd simply tell them to look at the weather printout and plan for the exact opposite.

Tifosi

When I was young, whenever anyone would try to predict what the upcoming winter would be like, my grandfather would say,"...Long about April, we'll know."

He was usually right.

If we are planning an outdoor activity, I am comforted when the forecast 4-5 beforehand predicts tornados, gale force winds and heavy rain. Then I KNOW its going to be a great day. Its only when they promise sunshine that I get nervous.... :-\

Well, we're bracing for a major ice storm...more beanie-weenies, vienna sausages and spray cheese and crackers...

Bah...that's where I learned all about skid control and countersteering, or just spinning hundreds of cookies in the supermarket parking lot at 3 a.m. while you were really looped and laughing so hard that your sides hurt the next morning....you know, important driving stuff....

MG

Well, yeah. There's that. Having matriculated at an elite eastern liberal college located in the wilds of New Hampshire, one simply learned the necessary techiniques or one never got to the OTHER elite eastern colleges where they kept the girls locked up. As I reacall, I never missed a date because of inclement weather!    :drive:

My most prominent memories of my school are all of the campus as framed in the rear view mirror!    ;D

Remember, my college days were marked by my first real "owned" car:  a 1968 MGB roadster that served as my primary mode of transport for three years in North Dakota.  I really impressed my father with that decision.......

I drove a 1969 Dodge Monaco in college.  If the girls wanted a guy with a big back seat and a lot of gas, I was their man...
