wanted a guy with a big back seat and a lot of gas

You're saying you ate a lot of beans in college?   :hah:

Pardon me for a second.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

OK. I feel better now.

MG

Are you perhaps driving through Nebraska right about now, otis?    :lmao:

otis89

No, I'm fed up with this stupid English assignment.

MG

Same thing. BOTH are boring to the point of putting a bullet through your brain!    ::)

You never had a stupid English assignment? I find that hard to believe.

otis89

I've always hated English because it's been basically the same thing every freaking year since 7th grade. It gets a little old and boring after a while. I especially despise this assignment. We're writing a 10-12 page research paper, and the teacher wants us to have 100 note cards with notes on them from 10 sources. No. I don't do note cards. If I'm writing a paper, I want the book or whatever I'm getting the info from right in front of me. That way, I know exactly what the source said, so then I can figure out exactly what I want to say. I don't take notes on books.

Nevermind. I just realized you meant you've never driven through Nebraska or put a bullet through your head. Geez. That's how much I hate this assignment. I can't think straight because of it.

Driving across Kansas or Nebraska is best done at night. That way, you can simply invent your own scenery. I'm usually driving through the Swiss Alps when I'm in Kansas.

I'm also fairly certain that I've driven through large portions of the Great Plains whilst unconscious. Cruise control FTW!

I disagree. I find the best way to traverse EITHER is in a nice comfy jet aircraft!    ;D

Hallucinogens are effective at helping with the transit. I wouldn't recommend anything that makes you vomit, and anything synthesised can be of suspect quality.

Not that I'm recommending driving under the influence (this here's BAT country!), nor partaking in anything illegal, I'm just saying it helps pass the time.

Or so I've heard.

Did I miss any disclaimers?
Measures with mics, marks with chalk, cuts with axe, beats to fit and paints to match

Your mileage may vary. See dealer for details. 0% financing with 100% down. Subject to certain restrictions. Not available in all areas. Subject to credit approval. Not responsible for irresponsibility. Put de lime in de coconut.

I cut my driving eyeteeth driving across Kansas in a cabover truck camper at 16...it was 1970, and the only time I was ever satisfied to drive 55.  Any faster than that, and the crate would fishtail like mad.  The crosswind was blowing at about 35-40mph, and I swaer that '68 Dodge truck w/Griffin camper was 2 stories tall...

I drove west across Iowa on I-80 in the Vanagon with a 40 mph crosswind, and a good healthy headwind just for kicks. The wheel was cocked 20 degrees left just to maintain a straight line, and top speed was reduced to about 60. Fun times.

Ultra

Tripping while tripping helps to pass the time.

I had an '87 Dodge Caravan with the 2.2 litre and a 5-speed[it was a rare one...], and had to drive into a 40 mph headwind.  Couldn't use 5th gear...45 mph was about tops.  This was in Indiana.

'89 Geo Tracker, auto...when you got that pup up to around 70, she started shaking like a wet dog and the tops of the doorframes began to pull away...THAT was driving excitement at its best..........

Boxer2500

No, "driving excitement" was taking the aforementioned VW up to an indicated 90 mph on a long, straight, downhill road just east of the Rockies. The wind noise was deafening, the engine sounded like it was trying its best to extricate it from the car, and the steering feel had gone from its normal "scary" to "nonexistent".

Tifosi

That must've been the world's fastest VW van...
