This thread was started long ago in hopes of spurring conversation outside of the puzzles.  It has had some positive effect on that front. 

Please you guys, continue to start threads and discussions outside of the puzzles.  It is the next step in the growth of this site and there are enough regulars here to build upon now.

I can't tell you guys how proud I am that this site has grown into the entity that it is today.   I look forward to all of your contributions and the continued growth of this site.

I was in New York in April last year, and as I said we eventually ended up going to a Billy Joel concert in Albany, but we seriously considered catching a flight to Chicago and driving up to Harris, Michigan for a concert with the original Blues Brothers Band, complete with Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi. But we eventually dismissed it as being too long a drive. Would have been a nice experience, though.

So I'm using it here for this purpose. Here it is: I believe in writing and I'm happy that e-mails and forums have put it back in fashion. For this reason I am usually rebuked by the internet slang. When I read LOL, I have to fight  the feeling that this comment comes from a total moron (especially in its common translation of "lots of laughs"). I don't trust smileys too much I must add. However,  i don't want to die in ignorance and am sometimes curious to understand what some supposedly honest and intelligent fellow meant by "IMHO" or "BTW". Happily I found this, http://www.internetslang.com/ which you already know I suppose, and now I can tell you all: MTFBWY!
