Yesterday, I had the envious job of trying to explain the concept of a gift card to a very senile 80-something gentleman.

"This seems way too complicated, can't you just print me one on paper?" :lmao:

Methinks karma will have its comeback in about sixty more years, Vdub...... :o

I picked up some goodies from Montana today. 2500+ kms on the Mazda now.

Rich

Good motor, AD....should be fun....

I think so - swapping transmissions tommorow. I got 22mpg in the B2000 - very windy though :-\

I've a friend who owns a long-bed Toyota truck (I don't even think it has a model name), but it's old-school, has a zillion miles on it, is rusted and dented, and I think he'd trade his Merc before he'd trade that truck.....

I think this one would go forever too - don't have too much use for it now though.

My buddy's is one of (might even be the actual) the first cars he ever owned.  Only in the most humid, hot summer weather will he surrender to the Merc (that he calls his wife's car) for the air conditioning.  He's a successful attorney and some days it's amusing to see him driving to court wearing a suit that's worth about three times more than his truck.  He regularly hoses it out in the summer to clean the mud and whatever out and its engine bay is usually pretty spotless.  Kind of funny how we attribute value to things.....

I wish I still had my first car...a 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 361 and a Hurst 4-speed...it'd look like swiss cheese by now, but I'd still love it.

Tifosi

It was quite a car...120,000 miles, 2 bad cylinders and wouldn't start when it got below freezing.  It had been my grandfather's car{honest}, and it's best years were long gone when I got it in the summer of '73.  By 1973, it was almost impossible to find carb rebuild kits for 361s, or so the mechanic told me.

I loved the full-time power steering...you could parallel park with your little finger.  Once the exhaust system rusted through on my way to Indy for a date.  We took her dad's car on the town that night...first time I ever drove a Datsun 510.  Wish I had one of those, too...

For no apparent reason, here's a photo my parents dredged up this weekend. Here's a young Boxer2500, age 2. Guess I was doomed to be a car guy from the very beginning.

Hadda save that one...should be an advert for Volvo.  Reminds me of the Jaguar ad I saw in CAR once, where a little boy was standing in front of the showroom window with his bicycle, and the caption read,"Someday, someday..."

Aren't the weekends boring without racing to watch?

C'mon, February!

Porsche had a great commercial along those same lines.
Measures with mics, marks with chalk, cuts with axe, beats to fit and paints to match

It also explains my strange attraction to old 240-series Volvos.

Tifosi

Needs a caption, like...

"WONDER WHAT I'D GET FOR MY BIG WHEEL?"
