one of the problems is the very complex movement of a correctly operating oar and i over come this with the oar boat by making the mens arm of soft rubber and this made the movement very realistic as the expanding  contracting of the rubber arms looked as if they were flexing their muscles.
i can get the wave motion with a tilting beam(see saw)  but the back forward movement is individually worked so apart from several sets of gear operating each oar or a belt drive  i have not solved the problem.
the worm drive (piano wire) has a back forward movement in two directions and the oar action will be irractic
how ever the workshop ATM is 4 C (freezing) and i will tackle the problem  later when th eday is warmer.

I won't be traveling - lots of projects to attend to at home, I haven't had a week off in almost 3 years!

I've never taken more than 3 or 4 days off for vacation in my working life.

Don't really know what I'd do with myself.

I tend to take one or two days off here and there as needed.

However, I am saving up for a real vacation next year.  Short plans are to meet my brother and his family in London.  My brother lives in Seoul, but my sister-in-law has a sister in London and hopes are we can all meet up at her place in England.  I haven't been to London in over 10 years.  Plus from last we saw each other in Seoul, she was having her place remodeled and since then I've seen some pictures and it's very nice.  Being an investment banker in London still has some perks apparently.

My next short vacation is to go to BurningMan.

QuoteShort plans are to meet my brother and his family
when my wife (who was adopted at birth) was 60 she found out  that she had 6 siblings.
we arranged for a reunion of the family and only one knew of my wife (a sister of 10 years  seniority)
and secretly we joined the family at the reunion.
the oldest brother  who was a mans man  whent up to a younger brother and said .
" have a lady friend i would like you to meet"
the totally shocked brother  could not believe his older brither had a 'lady friend'
then he introduced  my wife to him and said
"meet your older sister"
the rest of the family were also let into the secret sister and we all had a lovely time.
although their mother had died some time ago  my wife was the only member that
took after her and was the spitting image of her late mother.
so that reunion was some thing very special

Maybe she knows how she will look like the following morning...
