I often wonder what other hobbies an interests our membership enjoy.

We know of Ultra's enjoyment of wine, music production, etc.

I do lot's of fix-it stuff around the house (I hate paying anybody to do almost anything). As time allows, I play a game, "Combat Mission: Berlin to Barbarossa", with a friend of mine. It's an historically accurate WWII battle reenactment game which is played on a PC or Mac. As a player positions his pieces and gives them orders, the turn is saved and e-mailed to the opponent, who opens the file, enters his moves and orders, and sends it back, etc. It allows one to see how they would fare against the German Panzer corps or, alternately, the Russian army.

What do you do when not noodling about cars? Please tell us here.  :)

I am a TV sports reporter, so I am one of those lucky people who actually get to work with something that might be called a hobby. I'm into sports, and I've loved the game of football (soccer) for many years, so what can be better than presenting your own interests to the masses? This weekend, I'll be doing live commentary for the first time, which will surely be interesting. If I do well, I might well be in for a lot of more work in that field in the years to come, on national TV. Which would be nice.

Apart from that, I'm very interested in music. As I've said elsewhere on this website, I sing, and I listen to a lot of music - a lot of different music, actually. I'm also very fond of movies - my DVD collection is growing at a quicker rate than it should (currently around 500 DVDs, some classic, but most of them from the late 80's and newer). My CD collection is no longer growing as rapidly (currently around 750 CDs), as I'm satisfied with what I've got and will only expand it if I really like the music.

And then I read - the common popular fiction stuff, I guess.

I have 2 kids.
I surf the internet.
I run a startup media production business.
I am a huge music buff (over 200 records and over 500 CDs)

Other than cars (here and other sites) and work, I'm not too hobby oriented.   I admire my father in law who builds scale model planes and  brings them out to enjoy seeing them set free, and occasionally watch them crash and burn.

My hobbie I suppose is yard work.

I suck.

This thread lost me right around the time Ultra went rainbow.

Speaking of Mad Cow Disease, when I was last in Korea, there was a huge social uproar about the safety of American beef, and trade limits that the Korean people were asking for, but the government wasn't going along with.  Indignant at this, my sister-in-law said, "OK, fine America will finally kill us through their beef".  Now you, those who are reading this are laughing, much as I was when she and I were having this discussion.

However, I asked her to guess how many Koreans had died due to avian flu (for which the Korean government was burning thousands and thousands of chickens a week trying to control an outbreak near Seoul) and not of Mad Cow that we Americans were supposedly perpetrating.  She was not happy with my question to her.

I'd like to see Korea, Hong Kong and Japan before I take the big dirt nap.

You should try the Faroe Islands! It's a unique place. I went there last summer, it was amazing - the people, the landscape, the weather... astonishing!

If the original thread discussion is still permitted, here's a couple of my hobbies.

As has been shown in the must post thread, I'm heavily into photography, and this melds ideally into a bunch of my other hobbies, which obviously includes cars.
A side-hobby to cars is heritage numberplates, specifically in the state of Victoria. My aim is to record as many as possible - generally under [1000] - on photos.

I also loved the actual part-taking of mountain biking, until a fall required a knee reconstruction at 16, since then I've always gone along but as the photographer. Thankfully I can still participate whilst not participating.

I enjoy my music and movies/TV shows, but being a student don't always have the funds to build a collection as large as I would like and certainly not as large as the others here. One day...

I'm a big fan of yachts, specifically privately owned superyachts, they're almost always ENTIRELY custom built to the absolute highest level of detail possible, something which one can only dream of with cars generally.

Finally for this post, I would love to spend my life travelling if I could. I've been around the world a couple of times already, but it's never enough. Japan, Bulgaria and New York are my first choices of next locations to visit. Today... Tomorrow that'll change.

That's about all for now I think.

Tórshavn harbour pretty much looks like a place I could hang out at for a bit.   :)

We spoke to some American senior citizens who were there on a cruise. They'd been there before, and went back because they liked it so much. They told us that when they'd told people where they'd been, the response would be "isn't Egypt awfully hot?"...
