Real location in sheffield
;D. Excellent find, although it may not mean much to anyone outside the UK.
All we need now is an "Ev'nin' all......"
It would be even better if it was number 999 but as it the only building on the road not needed.
Yep . . . gotta be a Brit thing. Makes no sense to me at all.
There is a standing old joke in the uk.
If caught by the police they would say to you "let's be having you".
Hence the road name which although spelt differently is pronounced the same. The road name in full is Letsby Avenue. Drop the H and it makes sense
OK, got it. Thanks for the explanation.
As a postscript, yesterday I was watching one of my favorite TV shows, "The Artful Detective". It features the cases of a member of the Toronto Constabulary and takes place around the turn of the century. The Constabulary is predominantly made up of folks originally from Great Britain and there is a lot of British vernacular . . . so imagine my delight when the Chief Constable (a Scot) exclaims while apprehending a suspect- what else? - "Let's be havin' you, then." Made my day.
