When there is a chance to avoid the 'lying policeman' (how do you call it, btw? ) on the curb, everyone does that, so that's jut a logical step to cut the speed

We used to call them 'sleeping policemen' when they first appeared many years ago but nowadays they always just seem to be called 'road humps'.  Perhaps that's because all policemen are asleep anyway...!
