They called Dreamboats. "Five Tanks went into this bright red roadster. Four Interceptor-plane were reworked for the fenders; a Bomber tank made the body; Owner M. T. Avila Jr., Tulare California., has laid out $8.200 on into so far.  Car has a Ford frame, Chevy Grille, Olds Instruments, and its 17 feet long. A Mere power plant makes it go."

I had this article but the puzzle car seemed to be so big....

I have just found this photo of what is called a 1940 Ford custom by Manuel Avila. I reckon it's the same car - there are too may similarities. Probably the Caddy rear fins were added at a later date.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia
