1 point for the Puzzler who can say what this is, where it appeared, who built it for whom and when!

Quote :

"The streamlining era at Tatra was foreshadowed in October 1933 by a special prototype displayed by the British Tatra consessionaire, one D. Fitzmaurice, at the Olympia Motor Show in London, England. It was called the Tatra-Fitzmaurice and had a streamlined body designed by D. Fitzmaurice and made by Thomas Harrington Ltd. (of England) mounted on a special Tatra-supplied chassis with a front-mounted 1.48-litre air-cooled 4-cylinder engine (a modified T75 unit). It was offered for sale at a very high price and no copies were built."

Carnut

Quite so!
This is what it looked like (and actually still does as it was sold at auction a couple of years ago):

 >:( Too slow, as usual.

good to know this stil survives, I had assumed it was long gone. Does anyone have any recent pictures of it?

Wendax

I have different, more disappointing information. It is for sale right now, or at least what remains of it. The body is supposed to be stolen in the sixties during restauration, probably for scrap metal worth. You can find the ad at a well known prewar car portal.

Carnut

Yes, apparently what was For Sale recently was just the full running chassis minus the body, together with photos and documentation in the hope someone would buy it (£4500 was the price) and undertake a full rebuild.

Perhaps it'll rise again like the Phoenix?!  One can only hope.  It will NOT be cheap!

Incredible, thank you! Can you please PM me the source? I am trying to find any information or images relating to Fitzmaurice cars. That is the first really good image of the Tatra I have ever seen.
