About this question and my answer, I received a suggestion from a very affordable Professional Autopuzzler:  somewhere in the net this truck is actually identified as a Renault (and the wheels match with this description), otherwhere is identified as another marque and model.  I think this second one is the right one: so I lock it for frederick59 to find this different name or to obtain evidences that the Renault identification is the correct one.

could it be a Berliet truck when Renault bought it in the 70s?

targhediferro

I have it as a Berliet...but it was surely made before 1970.  Now you should easily find the model and coachbuilder.

Renault R2168, but it's not Berliet  ???

targhediferro

AsI told you I believe it is a Berliet...but perhaps it could be a Renault (and perhaps a R2168);   to get a point you have to tell me which Berliet model it is supposed to be, or to prove that it is a Renault.

It is identified as a Berliet GLR 8 1960 by Heuliez on a dutch site containing plenty of images, but also remarkable identification errors. And it is identified as a Renault 2,5 T from 1952 also bodied by Heuliez on Flickr and Pinterest.  Focusing on the logo, it could be a Berliet but the wheels are definitely Renault.  This remains a mystery for me.  Maybe a mix, at the time when Renault took over Berliet ?
