Chinese architecture.

For one point, please respond and identify the company showing its cars there.

Richard-Brasier from about 1904?

Wendax

No. It might be helpful to think about the "Why?" of this kind of decoration.

Is it a "Chinatown" in some American city?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Well done!

One more point for you. I'll post the entire photo tonight.

Well Done Indeed!!!, Robbie:

I have been all over this puzzle from the beginning and have journeyed through Pekin, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokio, Bangkok, Singapore and a half dozen other cities looking at the 1905-1910 time period.  Learned a lot more history but did not even come close to thinking about the Pekin-Paris Raid.

Congratulations.

I thought that the cars looked like de Dion Bouton, and started to think along the lines of the Peking-Paris race, but couldn't believe that the company would advertise their abject failure in such an ostentatious way! Their cars had extreme difficulty dealing with the route, and were lucky to finish.

I should have just posted my guess!
