I will say NO, as I haven't found current informations about this company. But for this case, I am not sure to be right or not

Was/is the company based in Bavaria?

Yes

I would like to say, that for some time now I have been rather doubting the accuracy of my source, but I would like to continue the puzzle according to it

Dear AutoPuzzlers,
I have to excuse myself to all of you, who tried to find the right solution for the coachbuilder of this bus.
Yesterday I found a second and much more reliable source, which describes this bus in all its details very carefully.
The coachbuilder is "Ernst Auwärter", as "pguillem" stated with one of his replies correctly.

So we have:

Make: Mercedes
Coachbuilder: Ernst Auwärter

Still to find:

Designation?
Type and special feature of the chassis?
Year?

I think, it will only be fair -due to my mistake- to LOCK for "pguillem" for three attempts to find the remaining answers

Sorry once again
