It wasn't intended to be "clever", just to determine which path to follow. But I'll ask if the base car is a Mercedes-Benz.
Yes, it is.
770 (Grosser) bodied by Mayfair?
Not by Mayfair
770 by Binder?
Not by Binder
Well, hell. I'm just gonna have to let this one go so I can get the final stuff finished and leave for the salt flats.
Good luck to everyone on it.

No, it isn't
Is the coachbuilder from an Eastern bloc country?
THe eastern bloc didn't come into existence until 1945. And since this car is obviously from before WW2, the answer is no.

Fair enough.
I will re-phrase the question then by asking if it's by a Czechoslovakian coachbuilder?
Not czechoslowakian, no
1935 Mercedes-Benz Nürburg by Ferdinand Keibl?
Keibl, indeed, but not a Nurburg
Gräf&Stift?
540K ?
770?
It was described a Grosser Mercedes, which I assume means a 770(K). I think it is fair to give Joao a point for correctly indentifying Keibl in Austria as the producer of the body. The question open is for whom this was build, for yet another point.... I hope everybody is OK with this.
Achmed Zogu I, König von Albanien. 1936
Indeed. In fact it was their sixth car for him, as the text says. Disappeared without a trace, I would assume..
Thank you! :)
Who knows this car?
Manufacturer of the chassis + correct coachbuilding company = 1 point
>>> Expert AutoPuzzles >>>

Hello!
It´s a Mercedes-Benz 770K Limousine by Keibl.
If I have done my homework correctly, this one is..............
Mercedes 770 built for King Zog of Albania in 1935 by the coachbuilder Keibl of Austria.
If I am correct, I have more details.
Bill
41 seconds...........................
Such is life in the fast lane I guess.
Bill
OMG you´re so fast, guys.
Well, sorry Bill Murray... :P
A repost: www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=21003
No please! give the point to Bill... as Allemano says...
"We've forgotten more cars than you'll ever know"
Thanks Wendax!
O.K. - done - one more point for Bill Murray, too.
But you still deserve your point, too.
Many thanks to Burkhard and João.
Given the extra effort I put into the quiz, I will humbly accept the point.
It seems our friend Zog was quite the rake and poser.
As mentioned in the earlier quiz, he apparently commissioned six bodies, all on Mercedes chassis I understand, by the coachbuilder Keibl. As also mentioned, apparently none survived. It is also said that Ettore Bugatti refused to sell him a Bugatti Royale because he "had the worst table manners in the world.
With the takeover of Albania by Mussolini, he went into exile in France. When France fell, he moved to England.
After the war was over he was invited to live in Egypt by King Farouk When Farouk was overthrown, he returned to France where he lived until he died. He also purchased a 60 plus room home in the US but apparently never used it.
Below, I will post a couple of other Keibl creations/concepts as well as a couple of photos of Zog "In Costume".
Bill
The last picture is the one I had the pleasure to post as a puzzle: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=18764 :)
It would be quite interesting to find photos of the other vehicles commissioned by King Zog and produced by Keibl.
My knowledge of what took place in Albania ca 1935 to 1945 is extremely limited but I find it hard to understand how so many exotic vehicles seem to have completely disappeared.
Certainly, many hundreds if not thousands of similar vehicles survived in Western Europe and are still being seen in shows and being sold in auctions today.
Is it possible that there was a completely different attitude towards such examples of "capitalism" in the Eastern European/Balkan countries and that they were all destroyed???? Or, perhaps converted into trucks and run into the ground.
I do note that a lot of the Packard inspired limousines and sedans made in the Soviet Union in the 1930's and 1940's seem to have also not survived so maybe my theory is not so far fetched. Although they were driven by the "apparatchik" or however it is spelled, maybe the common folk just said "get rid of them".
Any ideas??
Bill

The drawing was designed to be based on a Nürburg chassis: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2011-39/solved-wendax-396-keibl-proposal-for-a-mercedes-benz-nurburg/
But the real car was built on a 770 chassis.
Thanks for the point. My source was not clear.
