Sorry PJ, but I think the name, etc., is unique to this car.

Is the brand name a single word ?

Is the brand name made of a firstname and a lastname ?

To be honest I am not 100% certain, but I don't think so.

Did the company build other cars?
It would be more accurate to say that this company built other vehicles.

Trucks or vans?
It made a 'sort of' van (commercial vehicle), with a very familiar name!

I realize the ultimate goal is to identify the builder and model name of the puzzle vehicle, however, I would like to focus on the other vehicle for just a bit in hopes this will aid in identifying the builder. Did the other vehicle share its name with a well-known model of car?

Djetset

Sadly I don't know the name of the other vehicle, only that it was a four-wheeled light commercial vehicle.

Have you since forgotten the very familiar name?

No, I never knew the name to begin with. I took the photo of the mystery Puzzle car myself many years ago in the south of France when I didn't know what it was. Very sadly, my friend and our ex-AP colleague CMetisse told me all about the mystery car and background to its maker (name, location, etc.), but regrettably he is now longer with us to share his huge 'voiture sans permis' knowledge.

Djetset hasn't logged on here since 21st October.
I've been trying to find out what's happened to him but without success.
Hope he's OK.

And another voiture sans permis identified after 7 years of searching!  ;D
This is the ACM 421, built from 1978 to 1980.

And again, could another editor take over Djetset's part? Thank you.

Carnut

Well done!

The Generation Sans Permis magazine sold some old issues on Black Friday for 50 Cents each and I couldn't resist.  8)
