Please identify this sketch: Make? Coachbuilder? Decade?
Experts?
Perhaps Brooks Stevens' preliminary sketch for the Willys Aero update?
Sorry no. Not Brooks Stevens, not an Willys Aero update
BMW looks similar to the 508 roadster?
BMW is a very good guess! But, sorry, I don't know about a 508 roadster? I think, you meant 507?
Oops fat fingers
No worry at all, please try to find the coachbuilder and approx. date of this BMW Coupé sketch
A quick point for the Professionals?
Design by Michelotti?
Might be, and I strongly believe, but all I know definitely is the coachbuilder company, the sketch was made for
Allemano?
Not Allemano, but a well-known coachbuilder Giovanni Michelotti worked for..
Vignale?
No
Moretti?
No, better known
Ghia-Aigle?
Far earlier in the alphabet. Michelotti worked there during the first years of the 50's
Bertone
That's it! One more point for you
I didn't know he worked at Bertone, although I'm not surprised as he seemed to work just about everywhere..
Strange it doesn't mention Bertone in the Fondazione Negri book "Giovanni Michelotti - una matita libera" though..
Michelotti took up work (about 1950-1953) for Bertone, while the coachbuilding-world changed completely with the presentation of the new Fiat 1400 with its self-supporting bodywork. In 1952 Franco Scaglione followed Giovanni Michelotti at Bertone.
I have to add, that, during this partnership with Bertone, Michelotti always worked as a freelance-designer, not employed by Bertone. This may be the reason, why there is nothing mentioned about the Bertone-partnership in the Michelotti Negri book.
I don't want to reveal too much within this statement. I think, during the next years, the Michelotti-Bertone-partnership will find a resurrection at 'AutoPuzzles'
