A point could be yours if you can ID the name and model designation of this car
movin it
Is it German and
Is it based on an NSU?
Neither German nor NSU ...
Time for the pros to shine
Italian?
Abarth 750 Spyder, presented at the 39th bruxelles salon in 1956
It is! Can you name the coachbuilder? Yours for 48 hours...
I would say Boano, since it's the only pic missing in the Abarth catalogue!
Hmmm, my source says a different carrozzeria ...
Here's another view...notice that this car was intended as astreet version of the 210A, hence the pointed nose.
It's not a Pininfarina badge, isn't it...?
Not Pininfarina.
I'm inclined to say you have one point, PJ, but I'll award an extra point for anyone who can get to the bottom of the coachbuilder's ID
I think it's Allemano as it looks like their work.
That's not the name I have ...
Is Boano, as PJ said, a wrong name? Is this the only picture available on the internet?
If Boano is not correct ??? my first guess is Viotti..
I'll say Michelotti, but the badge it's the same of a Nardi-Vignale's.
I'll post the pic.
My guess, then, is Nardi-Vignale.
No, that is a Touring badge and the other is not.
So, Bertone is too obvious (the Abarth 207\208\209\215 and 216 were bodied by him or Boano), Allemano started with the 1600\2200 3 years later (and that is not his badge), Scaglione is like saying Bertone, so I'll stick with Michelotti...
I'm 100% sure it is a Boano.

I'm 100% sure it is a Boano.
That's makes me 130%!
(in the meantime I found a picture of another car by Boano with that logo...)
I'll come clean and say my source claims it's a Viotti design. However, that source, I have discovered, is not 100% correct all the time. I must say the style is very Boano and I'm inclined to accept that it is indeed Boano.
So: one point to PJ and, with absolutely definitive evidence, one more point may still be awarded ...

one more point may still be awarded ...
For what?
...and if I was right with Viotti (according to Your source), then this doesn't count?
As I said, the bonus point is for definitive evidence of the carrozzeria responsible. It may be Viotti, but as I said, my source hasn't proven to be totally reliable, so equally it may not.

And we all know for sure that the Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione (body) was made by Boano
I was going to add that Viotti made a 750 coupe, totally different from that and the Viotti logo it's quite easy to recognize. In addition to that, the Boano logo is well visible also in the Loewy Jaguar.
OK! I've learnt a lot, I'm feeling generous, 2 points to PJ, 1 to 75america :-*
May ask 75america to repost picture "without diagrams" :) ?

It was a collage.
Here's the Abarth.
If you also want the others pics, please ask. Then, I will rescan them on a higher resolution before posting.

Perfectly done! Thanks :)
I've now found this car listed as a Boano in another book, so I'm prepared to declare this little nut fully cracked!
Thanks to all those erudite puzzlers who commented
Another period pic:
What's this car, who built it and when? For 1 point..

Have fun!
My searching technique seems to have let me down because this car has also featured as a puzzle before!
So once again it will remain a Rookie puzzle but if it's not solved on this board it will be merged with the original puzzle.
Good hunting Rookies!

Clean lines...
Please identify this vehicle and its builder for one point

Fiat Abarth 750 Boano (1956)
Yes, 'thorax', you are right! I have a name for the car! Please tell me that name, and the point will be yours. LOCKED
Torpedo?
Exactly! That's your point! Congratulation
thank you!
maybe from Road&Track (I've saved the picture few days ago)
Pictures restored and topics merged
Road & Track might well have called this car "Torpedo" but I can't find any evidence at all that was an official name for it. A 'Torpedo' was of course historically a type of open car.
I have 6 Abarth books, most of which feature the car, and all call it the Abarth 210A Spyder by Boano, as does the Coachbuild.com site and Berni Motors site (the main world Abarth expert).
I'd like to see some sort of official evidence of that name other than Road & Track before I accept that it is correct!
Yes, 'Carnut', I totally agree with you. Me too, never found this name for the car before in any publication, until I found this 'Road & Track' article... This was the reason, why I posted this puzzle. May be anybody knows more about...
