So, now it's a bit faster around the corners again.
What do you call something like that? Who built it and who drove it? What was the name of the passenger? What engine was used? Where and when the picture was taken? For these few questions there is a whole point. And if you know on which occasion the photo was taken there is a industriously bee.

Any connection to the Munch?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

FrontMan

I'm not chasing the point;...the Bee is more highly prized.

The passenger is, I think, the charming "Inge" Stoll. Her first outing was at Hockenheim in May 1947, possibly pictured here with her Father, Kurt, who long outlived his Daughter.

sichel

@ D-type: There was a connection, but more than ten years later.

@FrontMan: Sorry, but the passanger is a man. The memory of Inge Stoll touched me, I think that on occasion I will remember her here.

Bikes have never been a great interest for me. I had my Father to thank for that, as, when despatch-riding during the War in Egypt, he rode into a wire that had been stretched across the road. His colleague, a French fellow (affectionately known to all as "Froggy") got him to safety. After six weeks in hospital, he realised that, "if you come off a bike, you get hurt.". He always remembered, with great respect, that it was a German doctor who saved his life...
So, I was "steered" away from 'bikes. That, of course, does not prevent me from being in awe of those who race the things :hail:.
I had the honour to meet Denis Jenkinson at Prescott many years ago. He, of course, had passengered for Eric Oliver, and I am sure that he would have known Inge. At that time I was not aware of her story, otherwise I would have asked! Instead, we discussed the chances of Renzo Zorzi being a distant relative of Tazio Nuvolari, Nuvolari's mother's maiden name having been Zorzi!!
Time to continue your inspiring Puzzle;...apologies for the intrusion. I hope Inge didn't mind.........

Due to the carburetor nearside the driver's knee, Boxer engine?

sichel

Yes, a boxer engine was used.

You mean, they never used "kneelers" (one part of your questions)?

@fromwien: "Kneeler" is 20% of the solution. If you tell us drivers name or type designation of the engine, I will lock for you.
