Correct!

Carnut

What's this, what is it based on, who built it and when - for 1 point?:

Edit:  I understand this car has been puzzled before but it seems neither its name nor the builder's name were known so weren't part of the puzzle.
They are now!  So the car's and thebuilder's names and from when it dates are essential for the point.  The puzzle can be merged once it's solved (again)..

volkswagen based from czech Republic?

It's VW-based yes, but not from Czechoslovakia (as it was then of course!)

This car is designed and built by Laurent Colson, who based it on a VW. It was shown on the 1951 Brussels Motor Show.

That's correct, yes, so you're now three-quarters of a Pro!
I'm going to merge this with the original puzzle of the same car, but I've taken the liberty of changing its heading to show the name of the car/builder rather than just who drove it in the Liege-Rome-Liege, which I think will make it easier to trace in the future.

More pictures showing his drawing of it from 1949 and the unmodified puzzle photo:

Below is a post I found about this car which is interesting and self-explanatory:

QUOTE
My name is Laurent Colson, and believe it or not, I'm Laurent Colson's grand-grand son. For your information, LC was not German but Belgian. The factory was located in Liege, BE.
This car was designed for the Automotive Salon in Brussels in 1951. Laurent Colson designed several other cars going from sport cars to ambulances ! :) If you guys need more information about the LC cars, feel free to contact me at my email address.
