Who knows this car?
1 point for the technical basis and the driver/builder
Too hard for the rookies...
SAAB basis?
Not Saab, not swedish at all...
Fiat based ?
No, but there is a significant technical parallel to a swedish car.
DKW based front wing and window lines very similar , 3 cylinder would be the common link , no idea as to name of car.
LOCKED for you!
You have a very good eye - it is indeed a DKW special.
But I need some additional information about the driver/builder to award you a point
many thanks for the complement , dont know the car
O.K.
Open for all again.
Last chance with a more typical view for you all experts.
...??
removed it, I'm too hot-tempered today... ;D
v-e-r-y nice car. no clues..
Is it described as Auto Union as opposed to DKW based?
It´s been registered as a DKW in that race.
Up!
DKW M49 Sportcoupé, a works one-off, reputedly an offspring of the DKW contacts to Pininfarina
again too late. The canibal was there before... :disbelief:

3 min 18 sec after it moved up is just tooo slow..!!
Well, I can´t find any photo of a "M49 Sportcoupé" in the internet. Maybe you can prove your guess?
I only have a driver´s name at an austrian racing event and the engines capacity.
So I´ll lock it for you and wait, Wendax.
PM sent
Place the name of the designer here in the thread, that you´ve mailed to me personally and the point is yours...

Do you mean Pininfarina (see above) or are you thinking about the similarity to the Baur bodies?
Is sleuthing going on in private, via PM, to preclude others from benefiting from what might otherwise be posted publicly?

No, I was just sending him a PM about my source which I didn't want to make public. The source wasn't absolutely clear about the M49 being the name of the puzzle car or a similar design by Baur. I pointed that out to grobmotorix. No other facts hidden from the public.
M49 I think is the general chassis name of the standard DKW Limousine.
It shares the same 900ccm two-stroke engine.
What I wanted to hear was the Farina connection.
A certain Mr. Roittner from Austria has raced it some time later.
I´d really like to know more about it...
Herbert Roittner at the 1957 Semperit-Rallye:
What is this car , for 1 point ! :)
Porsche 356-based?
Not Porsche 356-based !
Is it at least German?
Yes German !
Is this something from the Meisterschule für Handwerker? (MHK). Maybe on Porsche chassis?
Not Meisterschule für Handwerker !
Experts !
"Sportwagen Brand", 1954, based on a DKW F91...
Later Mr. Brand sold the car to Austria. To Herbert Roither in Salzburg. Roither raced the car and destroyed it in practice to the 1957 Gaisberg hill climb race
Yes ! Sportwagen by Hubert Brand , 1954, based on a DKW F91 !
Another point for fromwien !
Merged
So another puzzle piece (Brand) added to the history of this car.
Now I am totally confused!
So, was this DKW bodied by Stab. Farina, Pininfarina, Baur or Brand, as the solution really isn't clear?! Thanks.
Brand/make: DKW 900ccm chassis
Design: Pininfarina
Bodywork: presumably Pininfarina, maybe Baur
Drivers: Roittner + Brand
Front view
Two more (brilliant) pictures of the Roittner-car (not, Roithner, as I wrote before) at the first "Semperit-Rallye" 1957.
Thank you for the clarification.
