Thanks!
congrats to your 1800.! :applause:
Thank you!
Built by Leroy J. Viersens ,father & son , it's an early '50s American "sports custom" built on a '32 Ford chassis ,'48 Mercury engine ,'48 Buick front fenders ,' 48 Lincoln rears , ' 48 Cadillac grille , 49 Mercury bumpers......etc
Still exists :)
But what's it called?
Locked for 72Must for 24 hours.
1800 puzzles.
You are the man.
Thank you! :)
I can squeeze out about 200 more, and then I think I'll ease into solving and administrating only.
Didnt think it was "called" anything !?
Many customs are just known by the base vehicle type & owner / constructors names
Period mag seems to have titled an article on the car Mercillac or Bulinformercillac because of the cars used to build it.........
Keep looking...
Trends indicate an expert can put this one back on the shelf. ;)
Is it open to everyone?
Open to all Experts and Rookies
Skylane 1951
Oguerrerob just beat me to it - he's correct, of course, it's the "Skylane Motor Special Convertible Coupe"
Now THERE's a mouthfull!!!!
He did, but you've given the complete name.
Let me mull this one over for a bit...
OK - since you have, in effect, conceded victory to Oguerrerob, I'm giving him the point.
Sorry! and Thanks!
No worries - it's a game! :D
Right thing to do, and well-played all.

Or maybe 20.
Another pic:
A couple more photos:
Nice!
Please find this car
Has it something to do with VW-base?
No VW involved
It is fibreglass bodywork?
No
Up!
Im sure this is the skylane motor special that was designed and built by Leroy J. ViersenJr. and Leroy Viersen 111.?
Yes! Locked for you, to find the car's name
I thought that was the name, because the only name I can find is the skylane motor special convertible coupe 1951?
According to my source its name is a large and complicated word with other words
I looked on several sites for alternative name for it but no luck so far,it must be on a specific site that I haven,t found yet.I,ll keep plugging. ;)
The article was published on a famous not car magazine
Unlocked and Up! By the way I gave kwgibbs a point for naming the builders

This car was the subject of a previous AP puzzle. You were the one who solved that puzzle with the answer "Skylane 1951" (even though the puzzle creator claimed the correct name was actually 'Skylane Motor Special Convertible Coupe').
This car is
very well-known among the custom car community here in the US. It was named
'Skylane Motor Special' by the builders (see letter from the builder below) and has never been officially presented as anything else. I suspect your source may have mis-captioned a photo of this car.

You're right it's a repost (and I won a point for this one)
A popular magazine called it Bulinformercillac Convertible Speedster
To be fair I must give a GTE4289 a point for finding the original post

Of course, Popular Science (August 1951)! :D PS regularly omitted the names of businesses responsible for the various items featured in order to placate the paying sponsors. (Notice how Skylane Motor Parts is never mentioned.) The use of 'Bulinformercillac' in the title of the article was supposed to be humorous--a tongue-in-cheek reference to the preposterous list of donor vehicles. It's not being presented as the actual name of the vehicle (which is referred to simply as 'the car').

Thank you for the point, but kwgibbs really deserves full credit for this one. His response was spot-on.
