Experts?
Is this an Austin Healey based US modified (ie V8 engined) car?
It's a Jarvie from New Zealand. That's all I know, been searching for more information but didn't find any....

I didn't either so that's enough for the point.
Sure jotage or dzima will have more on it though?
This car was built by Brian Jarvie -
Thanks!
I see a Ford Prefect grille and hub caps there so maybe that tells us the basis of this car..
Brian Jarvie built the body, and built others to sell. I have seen an identical body complete with Prefect grille on a Buckler 90 constructed by Merv Mayo, complete with Elva OHC head on the 100E motor.
Our red car of the day.
For one point, please respond and identify this car.
up
Kitcar which is cobra inspired
It started as a kitcar.
There is a number plate behind the grill seems to read yank57 is this significant?
57 is relevant as it is the year of build. Yank is not part of the name. I should look more careful at the puzzle pictures in the future. ;)
up again
That highly chromed grille seems to be taken from a British Ford 100E (Popular, Prefect, Anglia, etc.), so is it based on one of those?
The basic body could be put on a Ford chassis, but this one wasn't.
Maurice Robinson's Jarvie.
It seems Kiwi has been the flavor of the month around here for the past few months in a row. :)

That's a basic problem of AP. If you investigate one puzzle which is NZ-based you find multiple other "unknown" cars along the way. It'll all change in time - we'll have something from Tristan da Cunha and then there'll be an avalanche ........

Maurice Robinson's Jarvie.
There is a strong connection to the Jarvie, but this one has another name.
Locked for you.
I'm still looking but meanwhile, it's been on here before.....

I've now seen the name as Maurice Robertson - not sure which is correct. Anyway, it's a 1957 car powered by a Chevy V8, and is known as the Hawke. It's a one-off using the moulds for the Corsair, which was a renamed Jarvie shell.
Hawke is the name I was looking for. It was built by John Mellelieu starting in 1985 when he found an abandoned 1957 Jarvie shell in a shed. He decided to to build a new ladder chassis and added a Chevy V8, TR6 front suspension and a Jaguar rear end. He sold the car to Maurice Robertson in 1989.
The puzzle picture and two of Dzima's pictures show the Jarvie-based Hawke (https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2017-46/wendax-3225/). The other ones are pure Jarvies. :)
Thanks for the point. I did know the name of the builder but forgot to include it in my post! I had in fact misread a Wikipedia article and thought Mellelieu had made another shell which he named the Hawke. Your explanation makes much more sense.
Since it's appeared before it'll have to be merged...
