The wheels don't match yet.

For one point, please respond and identify this car.

This is Silberhummel prototype by Fraunhofer Institute. I had a chance to see this car at IAA Frankfurt last year :)

Wendax

Yes, locked for you to find the man behind the project (not from Fraunhofer institute).

I have identified the car. I have no time for extra info.

Is Dipl.-Ing. Soren Scheffler the name you're looking for as the Silberhummel's creator?
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

Wendax

No, I am not looking for anyone connected to the Fraunhofer Institute.

Yes, locked for you to supply the final bit of information: Where does the design of this car come from?

@Wendax, could you please indicate all required information in original post, instead of asking additional questions, once the car is identified?

1938 Berlin Rome Berlin road race?

Wendax

Yes, Frieder Bach, founder of the Museum für sächsische Fahrzeuge in Chemnitz unearthed construction plans for a DKW F9 race car, probably to be built for the 1939 (!) Berlin-Rome road race which never took place. He started the project to recreate this car for his museum. The work has been carried out by the Fraunhofer-Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Umformtechnik IWU. They use the Silberhummel as a technology demonstrator for their economically efficient sheetmetal forming technology, especially for low production numbers. Next step will be the addition of a fuel cell to the car.

I regarded this interesting story as part of the puzzle, while the car's name alone would have been an unsatisfying solution to me. Sometimes (as in this case) I don't include the detailed questions in the first post, because questions can lead the way to the solution. I prefer the method with locks and subsequent questions, at least at pro level.
