Post by: metalshapes on July 18, 2010, 02:53:30 PM
I couldn't get on the site all day yesterday.

There was some page for GoDaddy, with that Danica woman smiling her fake smile at me...

No fake smile for me today, but for about a week Autopuzzles pages often take 30 seconds to load. When I don't get from my browser an error message like "the server disconnected you withou awarning. That can happens when he is too busy. Please try again later".
Is it the Autopuzzles server, or just me, my browser or my computer? I know it was happening rather often a few months ago.
Anybody is having the same trouble?

Page created in 0.206 seconds with 23 queries.

I have had a couple of slow loads this week but it has been good overall.

It's not a problem that occurs every time I visit the site. It's more often after checking various posts that suddenly one of these doesn't load at all or that it takes up to a minute till it's done.
I tested each of my installed browsers (Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome). All of them showing the same errors.

Had lots of problems a couple of months ago with Danica P appearing unexpectedly.
No problems at the moment.
I use Safari.

Charlie, I notice that those who have the problem seem to be all europeans. We had the same kind of trouble some time ago, adffecting mostly European puzzlers.
I hink that a giant squid is eating the big wire down at the Atlantic Ocean's bottom.

That is as good an explanation as any I have.

While writing down the last comment it took me three attempts to post it finally. ;D
(1. unavailable server 2. empty window. 3. clicked the refresh button!)

Same trouble with this reply... :-\

No... I'm in Tucson.

Getting this page to open took a couple of tries, and the succesfull one took a long time.

I don't know if anyone is having a problem this evening accessing the site.

If I click on my bookmarked www.autopuzzles.com, I get a window saying "web stats not enabled" and with strange instructions how to do this.

After a few tries, I googled www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php and bingo! I was back on the site.

Is someone is playing around with the main access to the site?

Also I should add that I reset Safari earlier and it may be just me who is having the problem.

Front page back online.

The missing posts and the disappearance of the "Who's Online" feature are being investigated.

I don't know about missing posts.  I do know I am in the process of updating the software and things are going to change in appearance here for a while.

I'll try to dig up the thread where multiple members mentioned their posts had been deleted. It was about a white roadster...

It was a different matter, there.
I think milos62 made 2 different quizzes, called ms#2 and ms#02 with the same car...the missing posts were in the older one. I merged them.

Ah-hah, a new design...
It will take some time to get used to it, as some buttons and links has also changed their places.
To be honest, I'm not a fan of these small thumbnails instead of previous full-size pictures, as you need to click every of them to see them in full scale, although I can see a couple of advantages like the ability to post bigger pictures and faster page loading (although I've never had problems with the latter here). But don't mark me as a thumbnail hater, maybe I'll love this new feature one day.

I think the thumbnails are gone now.  ;)

Yep, right on my eyes. I hope no one will be against this.  :)

At first change is always difficult to accept but we all tend to get used to it in time.

However, sorry guys, but so far the new design layout get zero points from me, and I especially dislike the watermarked images.  I can understand why this has been done, but I think it is a major step backwards and a better solutuon could have been found. :-[
