I tried to move my Puzzle 8 to Solved Puzzles, and something didn't work.
Could also not give Grobmotorix his point.
I also have my Puzzle 4 floating around (solved by Karn)

Puzzle 4:

http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=1366.msg12307#msg12307

Your puzzle 8 was properly moved, by you, to the Solved puzzles section.  It is about halfway down page one.  If you would uncheck the box asking if you want to leave a referring link next time you move a thread, it would really help out.  Thanks.

:)

I will look into the point thing right now.

I tested it.   You can now award points for Solved Puzzles.

;) ;D 8)

Pieter, I awarded a point to Grobmotorix as well.

A different kind of error........

When I tried to post a reply a few minutes ago, I got a message "server is too busy to show web page", so I back clicked, waited a couple and hit post again, and it went thru fine. Any thoughts (besides the obvious)?

GoDaddy was responsible for that.

Thanks for sticking with us through problems like that one.

I have only had that happen to me twice in the year this board has been here.  If it happens to you again, let me know.

It seems the go-daddy team has turned the rheostat to "molasses" again.  :(

I spoke to them about it today.  Nothing resolved.  When our latest period of service approaches expiration, I will be looking to change providers.

We've been pretty happy with "1 and 1", speed stays consistent and don't seem to have posting problems of any sort, FWIW.

I've been happy with 1and1 too. I just set up a simplemachines forum there and performance has been very consistent. If you go with them, wanna use me as a reference? http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=14871030

Jagman, since you mentioned it first, you should get the affiliate credit. If you take a pass, and Autopuzzles goes with 1and1, I'd love to get the referral.

Actually, I believed I  PM'd him about 1&1 prior to anyone posting it here.  :P

FWIW, personal experience notwithstanding, the last link I posted points to empirical evidence of 1 & 1 not being such a bastion of up-time.

Hey, I like it, but then I'm not a bastion of up-time either.  ;)

I've had great service through them, but it ain't my call. And if Graywolf recommended it before moi and wants the referral, by all means, it's his.  I just asked. I'm certainly not adament about it.

On a somewhat related note, this afternoon I noticed that AutoPuzzles is now blocked by websense. That will cut down on my lunch hour browsing. Might be worth looking into. I checked websense's sight but there wasn't any obvious place to search for a list of blocked sites and/or the reason they're on the blacklist.

Can you name other sites that websense block at your workplace?   Are any of them automotive or puzzle and game sites?

It is blocked as "Proxy Avoidance"...

QuoteAt schools and offices

Many work places and schools are cracking down on the websites and online services that are made available in their buildings. Websites like Myspace, Addictinggames, Runescape and even circumventors to bypass censors in computers and other illegal social websites have become targets of mass banning.

Proxy Web server creators have become more clever allowing users to encrypt links, and any data going to and from other web servers. This allows users to access websites that would otherwise have been blocked.

A special case of web proxies are "CGI proxies." These are web sites that allow a user to access a site through them. They generally use PHP or CGI to implement the proxying functionality. CGI proxies are frequently used to gain access to web sites blocked by corporate or school proxies. Since they also hide the user's own IP address from the web sites they access through the proxy, they are sometimes also used to gain a degree of anonymity, called "Proxy Avoidance."

All the other automotive/general interest sites I check seem to be available still. They only other site I've run across in the past that was blocked was myspace. The error message I get doesn't list a reason or category for blocked sites.
