Ok some info on the Seven - its a based on the "Locost" design from Ron Champion's book "How to build your own Sports Car". Typically one buys an old Ford Escort MkII (Euro only - its a older Brit book) and a pile of steel then weld up your own chassis. I totally wimped and bought my chassis (time is tight with two little kids and another on the way) and fiberglass bodywork. Mine is from a company called Luego in the UK - there is a local distributor a couple hours north of here. I bought his demo pile-o-parts so its orange which wouldn't be my first choice of colour but I don't hate it. Interestly its my third orange car! My rear axle is Hyundai Pony (interestly a copy of the MkII Escort/Cortina), front spindles are Hyundai Stellar (copy of the MkIII Cortina), steering rack is MkII Escort (from Swedan of all places), steering column is Ford Sierra so all my suspension bits "bolt up" as far as possible in a handmade car. I've got it to rolling chassis at this point (assuming I had tires on the rims). I have a Mitsubishi 4G32 engine and transmission that I think I'm not going to use anymore but will probably find a Toyota 4AGE or Miata engine instead. Progress will delayed a little bit as we are moving house at the end of month but I'm hoping to be done by May or so.
