I would like to suggest small CSS change:

.windowbg2 img {max-width: 300px; height: auto; margin: 10px;}

The things would look much better:

I'm trying to figure out how to do that...

Do you have access to autopuzzles.com/forum/Themes/default/css/index.css? Just add it to index.css (best edit with Notepad or other simple txt editor).

I know how to do and did that already once.  The issue is it won't let it change the file.

What do you mean by that? Are you trying to do it via FTP or SMF Admin Panel?

;-)  Chalk one up for the amateur.

Thanks, Ecnelis.  I got it working with your tip.

Great job, please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

I am still not at home, but finally I managed to get better internet access. I am very happy that my brother helped us. He's really good at his field - did I tell you one of my favorite stories about him? About two years ago, he had some free time so he put out some ads that if there's a problem with Drupal he can help...  A company contacted him, flew him over to Munich, put him in a five-star hotel, paid him a hefty retainer for a two day job. But he saved the day (and the company). Luckily, though he's younger, he's very supportive. If I am enthusiastic about a project, he devotes some resources to assist me. So that's how he ended up here. He's not registered on AP and won't be any time soon. He's just helping here and there.

I hope the site will be okay for now

Great job guys! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Only some silly questions (probably already in progress):

Is it standard now that attached pics are displayed as thumbs only which have to be opened with an extra editor? (Wouldn't be that handy for photo features..)

Will there be a quick reply editor again?

Please don't forget to uncheck the 'post a redirection topic' box.

I am only making observations here, not complaining and as well, no one else seems to have commented on what I am getting on my screens.

Whenever I open up any of the three primary threads, Rookie/Expert/Pro, the photo images I get are the size they were originally posted, not thumbnails.
Some cover the entire page and I have to resize the screen to see what is there and who posted it.
The country of residence of the poster is also missing.

I use both a Mac and a regular PC to access the site.  I have "unregistered" and "reregistered" on both machines, still the same. I have rebooted both machines, still the same.
I have also accessed the site of the internet again on both machines, still the same. I use Google Chrome on one machine as the browser and can use AOL on the other, still the same.

So, is it just me, or is the thumbnail thingie still a work in progress.

Also let me add my thanks for all the hard work of all involved.  I have been on various forums since 1999 and have seen many crashes and know how difficult it is to recover sometimes.

Cheers

Same problem here.

And once again, thanks also from my side!

Have you tried to clean browsers cache? Or just try to refresh site couple of times (F5, Crtl+R, Crlt+F5)...

Looks like another CSS-related issue.

Request to admins: little change in index.css should fix this:

.windowbg2 img {max-width: 150px; height: auto; margin: 10px;} ----> td.windowbg2 img {max-width: 150px; height: auto; margin: 10px;}

Same problem here.

And once again, thanks also from my side!

And here too.  They aren't thumbnails at all but are squeezed into a picture about 2 cm wide and 20 cm tall..
But whilst the actual puzzle picture is fine once the thread is opened any further pictures posted in the thread are again squeezed way out of proportion so are impossible to view..

Is there something I can do with my settings to correct this?

Otherwise a terrific job has been done, but clearly many of us are finding the pictures very hard to view which makes it quite difficult to follow.  There must be a way to address this!

Carnut, have you tried clearing your cache and cookies?  Will you let me know if that makes a difference?

I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade here, I support this Forum as much as anybody, but........

I am fortunate/unfortunate in having both a Mac and a PC in the same home, albeit two "stories" apart which with my rheumatism is a bit of a pain to switch back and forth.

On the Mac, using Safari, now the three main threads all seem to work as they did before more or less.
However, on other threads, Fenders & Skirts for example, the photo size seems to default to "thumbnail" and all photos are of that size.  Same thing on other threads.

On other threads, whose names I forgot to write down, pics have now gone missing that I know were there a week or so ago.

On either machine, using Google Chrome, I have the same situation as Carnut.  The "thumbnails" have now become "palm print" size and as he says once you open up the puzzle it is displayed in it's original posted size.  In the case of a 3000x1200 pic, it takes up the whole screen and then some for the image.

I cannot tell you how to fix it or I would, but having been on so many Forums over the years, this is not an uncommon problem of finding and installing the proper commands and most current Forums have instruction to adapt to both the Mac and PC environments and certainly the top 5 or so most common browsers.

As regards the clearing of my cache and cookies, please, but no thanks.  I belong to well over 100 sites dealing with research, the hobby, business etc.
In most all cases, I have my user name and password "saved" on the sites and I have not had to remember and type in such in some cases for years and they are not all the same and I have long ago forgotten some of them.  You also lose a lot of other stuff on every site tied to that browser when you clear and clean.  Been there, done that.

Please do not get angry with me as an individual here, I understand your frustrations and I am trying to be informative and as helpful as I can.  But...in the end, the Forum was properly formatted/programmed before and it can be again to serve both Macs and Pcs and the most popular browsers and I hope we can get back to that situation.

With Total Respect and Support.

Cookies can be cleared by individual site in my browser.  YMMV.  That's what fixed it for me.

With Firefox and Chrome I have the same (strange) problem... in all the threads I see the pictures of odd posts as normal-size and the picture of even posts like thumbnails...  :o

I can only see how to delete them all so am a bit reluctant to do that as I, too, don't have a note of all the different passwords to various sites like facebook etc etc.  (They all started out the same but get changed for various reasons with the passage of time..)

I do a lot of my AP browsing on my computer at work so I'll see what it looks like there first before I make the rash move of deleting all my cookies!

Thanks for the advice anyway!

No problem at home (Firefox browser), but at work I have the sky high, but narrow thumbnails. Even clearing the cache and deleting cookies didn't help.

Just for the general info guys
