With its V-shaped flat windshields and the sliding windows in the doors it looks like a home-built body to me.

Thanks. I agree with you, unless it's a temporary body fitted to a prototype chassis. It has an odd protruding radiator grille similar to an Austin of the period. Maybe the grille came from a scrapyard!

I guess a prototype wouldn't have such a huge roof rack.  ;)

This alleged 'North Korean electric car' appeared in “Korea” magazine, January 1959. We suspect it's simply a rebadging/modification of a foreign car, but if so, what is it?

That's a Hillman Minx VIII.

Or more likely it's an Isuzu Minx PH11 from 1954, based on the Hillman Minx Mk VII.
Isuzu just used the British brochures for their own, hence the English family in the car!
The Isuzu Minx PH12 of 1955 was based on the Mk VIII Minx and had vertical bars for the grille with just one horizontal bar in the middle.

Thank you both very much. The Isuzu model seems more plausible as per the previous Japanese occupation of Korea. :)

Here's another challenge, a 3-wheeler supposedly built in North Korea:

Hey all,

I would say I'm pretty good at cars but I'm just not sure what car this is. (Croatia) My guesses are a Fiat Argenta, Toyota Crown Super Saloon or Nissan Cedric?

Thanks!

It should be a Fiat Argenta. As I understand your picture was taken in Croatia, then it is probably the license-built Argenta by Zastava.

Regarding the Britischer Eigenbau

It reminds me of this, I don't know who built it but it's said to be based on an Austin A40 Sports

This car has appeared on another website. Image taken in Moscow in the 1990s. I reckon it's a homebuilt custom on a pre-war chassis.

A 1939 Buick with some ZIM 12 parts (grill, indicators) as well as a ZIS 110 bumper I'd say.

Thanks. The other website had come to a similar conclusion. The angle of the camera and foreshortening had made me think the car waa smaller.

I know this is a case of shutting the stable door long long after the horse is over the horizon, but I still feel this would be better as another bulletin board with one thread per car.  Certainly a "What is this - I don't know?" post/thread should not be on a puzzle board.

We are also looking for info on the origins of this 'Chollima'-badged motorcycle (North Korea, 1959). Suspecting something Soviet or Japanese.

We're looking for information on any of these buses, except the red and white ZiS-155 in the background. Hamhung, North Korea.

Seen in a North Korean comics book, is it a real thing?
