Title: Leaving Autopuzzles for just over a week
Post by: JonathanPoll on August 16, 2012, 03:34:04 AM
Hey,

I saw its a good idea to post if I'm not going to be away, and not be on Autopuzzles for a while.

We are going to Brussels to drop off a restored Messerschmitt KR200, and then go up to Norway to pick up a very special car (I'll post pictures of the barnfind!)

Should be back in just over a week.

Thanks! It was worth the trip, check out what we found! It is an undiscovered car, chassis number not on the register! One of less than 300 built!

I don't know my bubble cars.  What makes this one special?

I think he is referring to it being the rare four-wheeled FMR Tg 500, also known as Messerschmitt Tiger. The prices for these have exploded over the past years as they combine microcar looks with a 20 hp engine creating enormous driving fun (if the engine doesn't collapse).

Think how much fun that car could be with a Hayabusa motor and some wide, sticky tires.  Porsche killer!

Well, for those who don't know much about messerschmitts (I don;t blame you!), this is tha rare TG500 "Tiger".

No one has any precise number about hoiw many were made, but were sure there were less than 300 built!

It is the rarest and most special production car by FMR (Messerschmitt). Powered by a Sachs designed 500cc ir cooled engine, it can go 90MPH without tuning, and some people can tune them to go up to 105MPH !

However, the engines were originally poorly built - the engine was designed by Sachs, but they werent ghappy with the result, so they just kept the papers. Later, when FMR wanted an engine, they applied to Sachs. Sachs gave them the patterns, but wanted nothing else to do with it, they didnt even want there name on it! The castings were all sand cast at the FMR factory, thus being poor quality.

By the way Wendax, do you know where that photo was taken? Its a nice photo!
