Salt Flats season starts in a week.  I'm going to be pretty tied up (not to mention in locations with zero web access and 18 hour work days) for the next couple of months.

One good thing that's happened is that my race car finally passed the "move under its own power" test yesterday (07/31/2012) and seems to be running pretty well...at least well enough to put some nice black stripes on my driveway.

Anyway, my involvement will be at a much lower level than it has for the last few months since I tripped over this place and fell head first into it.  But when the last salty dog is hung, I'll be back with more regularity.

Here are a coupla photos of the car and its tell-tail (pun intended) tracks.

We look forward to the full download when you get back.

Good luck and God speed!

That's a mean-looking machine......
Hope all goes well for you and look forward to hearing about your exploits when you return.

Well, it's not a "pristine trailer queen" but I've subscribed to the "pistons before paint" concept.  If I get thru this season without any major mechanical issues, the paint will be stripped off...it's the "California Special" water-based lacquer that's cracked and crazed beyond all hope of repair.

I hope I have some happy tales to tell.  In the meantime, there should be an "official Speed Week 2012" thread in this section of landracing.com:
http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/board,50.0.html  It uses the same Simple Machines forum software as Autopuzzles, so the look and feel is pretty familiar.  We'll be doing "almost live" coverage from the salt at all the events, just as we've done for the last 4 years.  If you wanna get a "from the salt" view/commentary, that's the place to get it.  It beats waiting for the December issue of Hot Rod Magazine as was the case in days (ok, decades) past.

I'll be checking in from time to time, but for now, best wishes to all on AP.

Am on the beach for the weekend.
See you again on Monday!

Djetset

Just dipping back into AP briefly after a number of long overseas business trips, but can't hang around long as now flat out at work getting ready for the Goodwood Revival, so will deal with any unanswered puzzles once that is over.  Thanks.

to all whom it may concern:

my new job takes a lot of time in the coming weeks/months, so, it's possible that I need 2-3 days till I'll find the time to reply.

Hope you appriciate that. :)

My laptop at home is refusing to work properly, so possibly no or slow answers for a while.

I don't have many of my puzzles floating here now, but still, I will be abroad (in Czech Republic) from 12th to 20th, so not sure about my Internet access during these days.

For the next few days I'll not be online much - NEC Classic Car Show duty mainly during the day.

He did, as did Carnut and Djetset, and I'm happy I can now put faces to the names.

Very nice to meet you and have a chat Allan.
Lovely car (and I'm not referring to the Lynx...!)

Always good to meet fellow AutoPuzzlers, and very nice to see Allan for the first time, as well as my annual catch-up with Carnut (but sorry I missed you Giles!).

I'll now be away for a few days, but passing via AutoRetro in Barcelona next weekend if any other Puzzlers are around? (sadly I can't speak Spanish!).
