I am grateful for the information :grad:;....is this machine from the 1960s ?

sichel

No, a little earlier.

O.k;....here goes :nerves:.....Horex Renn-Imperator 500, 1952 ?

sichel

Good Idea, but unfortunately wrong. Neither Imperator nor Horex. But there were even more four-stroke racers in Germany.

Has the company built this engine only for race use or has ever existed a street-bike with this engine?

sichel

It was a thoroughbred racer!!

Simson RS350/7?

D-type

Was the engine used to power anything else in addition to a motorcycle?

The Simson RS250/5 was equipped with a single-cylinder DOHC-engine,..
the cams of the 350/7 were spur-gear-driven(?), not chain-driven (?) (my fault with an previous answer????),.. the only missing twin is in my opinion:
Simson AWO RS250/6 (by Werner Strauch)?

it is indeed the Simson RS 250/6. Therefore you have earned the two-point bonus first  :applause: :applause:
To the different versions of the AWO/Simson RS: RS 250/5, this single-cylinder version is accompanied by another small contribution in a moment.
RS 250/6: First version had a triangular chain driven camshafts, like the single-version. There was a late version with king-shaft-driven inlet-camshaft and connection through spur-gears to the outlet-camshaft. There should also be experiments with desmodromic valve control.
RS 250/7: This was the last Version of Somson 4-stroke racers. So, there could also be used the king-shaft / spur-gears version of camshaft driving. But I only found pictures with pure chain-drive.

And no some pictures of the AWO/Simson RS 250 single-version (pctures one to four). You can see the same development of the race fairings as with Adler or NSU (see si_034).
Also three pictures (five to seven) of RS 350/7.

There has been a very good article in Oldtimer-Markt-magazine 06-2005 about Simson 250/4 to 6. I remembered that fairly, but I couldn't find the copy of this mag in my library! Hope, I haven't lost or borrowed it to somebody. I can't remember
Thank you for the double-point. I hope, you will not forget to award me as last time?  ;D

sichel

I know exactly in which grid square I have this booklet in my attic...
"I hope, you will not forget to award me as last time?" - The feeling is mutual   ;)
