What a pretty little racer! Which manufacturer? Which engine? Which year of construction?

Then NSU? (bad eyes..thought to see one lying cylinder between two upright ones..)

sichel

Do you wear glasses?  ;)  As far as I know, NSU never built 2-stroke-racers.

Yes, you are right! I wear glasses, but have to put them on..
And again you are right: Stupidly I did forget to have a look at your previously answer..
Two more goals for you.. and I hope one for me:

MZ connection?

sichel

Sorry, I have to correct my statement on NSU racers:
In 1951 there was a short intermezzo with Lambretta 2-stroke scooters, converted for racing. One of the attemts for a new start in racing. First race in Dieburg was the first and only victory. Third race in Ingolstadt was a total failure and they withdrew the racing Lambretta.
Btw.: Winner in Ingolstadt was a certain Werner Haas on a self-tuned double-piston Puch...
Actually, I wanted to take pictures of the little racer, but maybe I can use them again...

But now back to the current puzzle: There is no MZ connection, except perhaps mutual theft with eyes...

Thanks for information about the NSU-2-stroke-racers. Didn't know about.

Is this an Adler racer?

sichel

Yes, it is! Locked for you, waiting for more details.

250 RS 1956 (thermosiphon watercooled with two small radiators air feeded by the small round holes In the front fairing)?

sichel

Adler RS 250 watercooled is nearly a bull's eye! But I have an earlier year of construction, the fairing makes the difference. Can you describe the difference?

It's the "Delphinverkleidung" ("dolphin-fairing") prior the "Vollverkleidung" ("full-enclosure-bodywork"), 1955

Here in comparison the difference shown on another example (NSU)

This is your next goal! A great piece of work. Yes, it is the 1955-version: watercooled with dolphin-fairing and duplex front-brake. Thanks for the comparison using the example of NSU Max. I particularly liked this: My first vehicle was a NSU Max and my best friend started at the same time with a Adler M 250. I'll show you the '55-model as a naked bike and a version from the beginning of 1956 with full fairing. I did not found any picture of this version in racing. In the late 50s, full fairing was banned, the motorbikes became very sensitive to side winds as a result.

Thanks for this very interesting puzzle! Never before, I saw a picture of the Adler 250 RS with "dolphin-fairing"!
The air-cooled version of the Adler 250RS-engine served as a base for Yamaha's later very successful 250-race-engines

sichel

Yes, it was fun to follow the development of the solution. The first series-produced Japanese two-stroke twins (Suzuki, Yamaha) have looked very, very similar to the Adler engines.
