Title: F1 Race Manager 2011
Post by: MG on March 07, 2010, 06:29:13 AM
The first race is just a week away. Anyone want to play this year?

Lots of dissatisfaction with F1 Manager. I have investigated ITV-F1 but cannot figure out how to access their game. Anybody got any ideas?

Personally, I can't wait. I'm putting all my money on Lotus. They're gonna surprise a lot of people!    :lmao:

The league I set up for this place is Autopuzzles. The password is "autopuzzles" without the quotation marks.

My team is Lachine Machine again this year.  There are new features this year as well.  Check 'em out.

Glad to have you boys on the grid.  ;D

P.S. This is NOT the same folks who did the F1Manager from last year.

The Flying Burrow Owls currently sit in second. It appears to be alphabetical at this point, so I might change my team name to

"AAAAAAAH! Flying Burrow Owls!"

..so I can be in first, if only briefly. :)

That's a good thing. With all do respect to the fellow motorsports fans who were running the site we used last year, IMHO it was just too unreliable to be fun. Database errors, scoring delays / mistakes, and the site being down for extended periods of time made it quite a hassle.

This new place has lots of interesting features. The bets, bonus questions, and the fact that points are scored all the way down to 24th should make things very interesting. Also sounds like the "brokers' fee" is designed to keep the league competitive even if someone jumps out to an early lead.

Quote8. You must have enough money to buy all the stuff you want. You can't borrow money. We've given you a 100 mil already. Spend it wisely.

Deficit budgets will cause you to score NO points.

I was just sayin' ya don't get much for 100 mil these days!

This game seems to place a premium on guessing the eventual finishing order in order to move up in the world.

Nonetheless, the Sons of MOWOG will make it to the grid on time - unlike so many teams in real life!    :P After all, at this point, I can't finish much worse than 6th in the league!   :-[

It is good to have a clearly thought out strategy, S&M!    :P

Btw, some of the PTB in the sport, such as Martin Whitmarsh, actually took note of how boring the race was and want to do something about it immediately by forcing Bridgestone to make tires that don't last as long.

Lessee. We have a problem. The solution to the problem is well known. Let's call it A. Ergo, we must immediately invoke Plan Z to gin up some exciting passing in the pits because we can't use Plan A because we all agreed to rules that fail to address Plan A.

Proving once again that all the money in the world doth not confer actual smartness on people.    :bonk:

Apparently "something" need only be a spot of rain.  Which means if F1 ever returns to the US, Seattle would have to be on the short list of likely locales.

The Flying Burrow Owls would like to announce that during this last race we outscored a theoretical team composed of former champions Schumacher and Alonso driving Ferrari Chassis & Engines.

Of course, since none of the Autopuzzles competitors fielded such a theoretical team, this point is largely academic. :)

Onward!

How's everyone doing with the "bets" one can place each race? I'm batting around .400. Wondering if instead of trying to pick the top 3 I'd be better served by picking one top driver for all 3 spots, to at least get SOME money. Getting the top 3 in the wrong order doesn't do much good. :)

The bets are a crapshoot.  This is my chart on my bets.

Monaco    VET    VET    ALO    HAM    CHD    Y: HAM in top 3 (Q)    N: STR points    N: ALG > 1    400.000
Spain    VET    VET    ALO    HAM    CHD    N: MSC in top 3 (Q)    N: WIL points    N: LIU > 1    1.200.000

It has been brought to my attention that the Flying Burrow Owls can't possibly gain ground on the team above us if we choose the EXACT SAME DRIVERS, ENGINE, CHASSIS, AND FUEL.

Since I'm rather attached to our RBR equipment, I would appreciate it if Conrero Squadra Corse would kindly modify their team setup for the coming race.

I hear Virgin/HRT are both due for an upset. Just sayin'.

The Conrero Squadra Corse will only decide after saterday's 3rd practice what the team will do.
At least until then, the team remains the #1 of the Autopuzzles subleague.  ;D
Moreover, the team is rather confident that, even when it applies some bad changes, it can still finish first thanks to it's lead of 469 points on the second placed team, Flying Owls.
Nevertheless, Conrero Squadra Corse wishes success to all other teams.

NEW RULE:
Drivers wishing to continue their employment with the Flying Burrow Owls must compete using ALL FOUR wheels. While there may arguably be some weight savings realized by shedding a wheel shortly after leaving the pits; studies have shown this results in dramatically increased lap times.
