The first race is just a week away. Anyone want to play this year?
Lots of dissatisfaction with F1 Manager. I have investigated ITV-F1 but cannot figure out how to access their game. Anybody got any ideas?
Personally, I can't wait. I'm putting all my money on Lotus. They're gonna surprise a lot of people! :lmao:
I am setting the league up later today. Hope you will join in.

Great! I'll see you there! ;)

The league I set up for this place is Autopuzzles. The password is "autopuzzles" without the quotation marks.
My team is Lachine Machine again this year. There are new features this year as well. Check 'em out.

Hope to see you guys there.
Wow - atsa tight budget!
Scuderia Isles of Langerhansport is on the grid
team Conrero Squadra Corse is on the grid as well.
Glad to have you boys on the grid. ;D
P.S. This is NOT the same folks who did the F1Manager from last year.
The Flying Burrow Owls currently sit in second. It appears to be alphabetical at this point, so I might change my team name to
"AAAAAAAH! Flying Burrow Owls!"
..so I can be in first, if only briefly. :)

That's a good thing. With all do respect to the fellow motorsports fans who were running the site we used last year, IMHO it was just too unreliable to be fun. Database errors, scoring delays / mistakes, and the site being down for extended periods of time made it quite a hassle.
This new place has lots of interesting features. The bets, bonus questions, and the fact that points are scored all the way down to 24th should make things very interesting. Also sounds like the "brokers' fee" is designed to keep the league competitive even if someone jumps out to an early lead.

'xactly. I tried to choose with care.
Ummm.....my bank account currently sits at =$139,000,000
Sounds good to me! :lmao:
Clearly, this is a different game than we are used to...... :D

What? You can run a deficit?! Dang my penny-pinching!
Quote8. You must have enough money to buy all the stuff you want. You can't borrow money. We've given you a 100 mil already. Spend it wisely.
Deficit budgets will cause you to score NO points.
;)
Please welcome our humble Equipe Squadra Scuderia on the grid :)
I was just sayin' ya don't get much for 100 mil these days!
This game seems to place a premium on guessing the eventual finishing order in order to move up in the world.
Nonetheless, the Sons of MOWOG will make it to the grid on time - unlike so many teams in real life! :P After all, at this point, I can't finish much worse than 6th in the league! :-[
Say hello to the Squadra ImpishGrin Bielany, managed by Pawel M. Golubinski and Sean Connery :D
Woo! :cheer:

If Sutil hadn't spun at Turn 1, you'd be laughing out of the other side of your face, amigo! :P
If Vettel had won the gap to second would have been even larger. :hah:
My drivers didn't spin. :P
My strategy to stay near the bottom to keep my broker fee low is playing out perfectly! Now I can swap my non-performing chuckleheads for DIFFERENT non-performing chuckleheads with minimal financial impact!
So sad Petrov didn't finish the race, both for me as his follower and for the gameplay...
It is good to have a clearly thought out strategy, S&M! :P
Btw, some of the PTB in the sport, such as Martin Whitmarsh, actually took note of how boring the race was and want to do something about it immediately by forcing Bridgestone to make tires that don't last as long.
Lessee. We have a problem. The solution to the problem is well known. Let's call it A. Ergo, we must immediately invoke Plan Z to gin up some exciting passing in the pits because we can't use Plan A because we all agreed to rules that fail to address Plan A.
Proving once again that all the money in the world doth not confer actual smartness on people. :bonk:
Any other east coast night owls staying up to watch this live? Nope? Alrighty then :)

Apparently "something" need only be a spot of rain. Which means if F1 ever returns to the US, Seattle would have to be on the short list of likely locales.
I was up drinking with friends. My head hurts a little bit right now.
Leading the pack, the Lachine Machine.

The Flying Burrow Owls would like to announce that during this last race we outscored a theoretical team composed of former champions Schumacher and Alonso driving Ferrari Chassis & Engines.
Of course, since none of the Autopuzzles competitors fielded such a theoretical team, this point is largely academic. :)
Onward!
I MAY make some adjustments to my team before next race....... ::)
This is my year!

No doubt. You should run an incomplete team this week just to flaunt your insurmountable lead. :)
Wouldn't you know I buy Vettel last week and Webber gets hot.
How's everyone doing with the "bets" one can place each race? I'm batting around .400. Wondering if instead of trying to pick the top 3 I'd be better served by picking one top driver for all 3 spots, to at least get SOME money. Getting the top 3 in the wrong order doesn't do much good. :)

The bets are a crapshoot. This is my chart on my bets.
race pole 1st 2nd 3rd dnf question 1 question 2 question 3 gains
Monaco VET VET ALO HAM CHD Y: HAM in top 3 (Q) N: STR points N: ALG > 1 400.000
Spain VET VET ALO HAM CHD N: MSC in top 3 (Q) N: WIL points N: LIU > 1 1.200.000
China VET VET ALO HAM GLO N: WEB in top 3 (Q) N: WIL points N: LIU > 1 1.600.000
Malaysia VET ALO HAM ROS DIG Y: SUT in top 10 (Q) N: TOR points N: PET > 1 1.200.000
Bahrain HAM HAM ROS ALO CHD N: MSC in top 3 (Q) Y: FOR points N: BAR > 1 1.600.000
Am I the only one who has a feeling that there was actually NO correct answer for this week's Bonus Question? ???
It has been brought to my attention that the Flying Burrow Owls can't possibly gain ground on the team above us if we choose the EXACT SAME DRIVERS, ENGINE, CHASSIS, AND FUEL.
Since I'm rather attached to our RBR equipment, I would appreciate it if Conrero Squadra Corse would kindly modify their team setup for the coming race.
I hear Virgin/HRT are both due for an upset. Just sayin'.
;D
The Conrero Squadra Corse will only decide after saterday's 3rd practice what the team will do.
At least until then, the team remains the #1 of the Autopuzzles subleague. ;D
Moreover, the team is rather confident that, even when it applies some bad changes, it can still finish first thanks to it's lead of 469 points on the second placed team, Flying Owls.
Nevertheless, Conrero Squadra Corse wishes success to all other teams.
Final standings:
1 Conrero Squadra Corse 19166 1331
2 Flying Burrow Owls 18697 1331
3 Lachine Machine 18091 1250
4 Squadra ImpishGrin Bielany 15787 1331
5 Equipe Squadra Scuderia 15785 1224
6 Isles of Langerhansport 14761 1200
7 Scuderia Patrizio 13288 647
8 Sons of MOWOG 11638 597
9 Stafford Speed 11088 763
10 Fminus1 8341 344
Congrats to Conrero Squadra Corse on a season well played!
Also note I finished with ~ 81 million dollars left. As soon as I find the "cash out" button it's BUGATTI VEYRONS for EVERYONE!
Any interest in another go round?
Please see my latest post, S&M! ;)
I'll take part in both - already packed a team in F1 Race Manager, so no way back... Join.

Our F1 Race Manager league is still active. Pick your team today.
I'm ready for this year.
I'm in!
I'm in both leagues. Whichever instantiation of the Flying Burrow Owls performs better is the one I'm neglecting :)
NEW RULE:
Drivers wishing to continue their employment with the Flying Burrow Owls must compete using ALL FOUR wheels. While there may arguably be some weight savings realized by shedding a wheel shortly after leaving the pits; studies have shown this results in dramatically increased lap times.
Well, I didn't finish last... ^-^
