So very well done to Flying Burrow Owls for consistency and coming out top in the end.
Also to Karn Utz who has achieved his ambition of coming last!

The one thing I don't understand is, every week the overall winner (not of the Friends League but of Badger GP) has something like 220 points (which is what the winner got this week), which I can never get anywhere near.

When my team comprises Mercedes (1-2 nearly every race plus World Champ) and Red Bull (3-4 nearly every race);
Nico Rosberg (1 or 2 nearly every race and World Champ) and Max Verstappen (regularly in the top 3 and a rare non-Mercedes winner)
Plus Carlos Sainz (who has got a surprising number of points on a regular basis) and Haas (very few points but everyone has to have a no-hope team as there's so little money left after spending on top drivers/teams)
And I get 3 or 4 predictions right
How does someone get 90 points more than me?!
It's a complete mystery to me but it happens every race; who on earth is in their teams?!

According to Enzo Ferrari, second place is the first loser.... and who fails to arrive last ?  :'(

I saw early on that 1st place was beyond my abilities. I tend to let sentiment and hope influence my pics. If I had gone 100% scientific, I may have fared better. So,  I raced to be 1st in last place-ness.

As to those souls pulling in 220 points per race, I can only assume they were also prescient in their pre-race predictions (pole, fastest lap, 1st retirement).

My congratulations to Stephen Mason, and commiserations to the other participants. I hope you all enjoiyed the chase.

I can't remember if I actually watched a complete race this year - probably not. I certainly couldn't tell you which one,  thanks to Hermann Tilke.
Sorry to be such a misery, but I won't take it seriously until it's all back in the hands of the FIA, which won't be in my lifetime........

Thanks to all for a well-played season. I watched a few more races than I would have otherwise, absent the fantasy league.

One minor complaint I had was that not knowing the other team's composition, I was never sure what exact outcome to hope for. Probably a bit much to ask for a free league, but some manner of real-time scoring would be nice to have.

And likewise, no idea how the top players netted 220+ points. I guess with enough people playing, statistically speaking, SOMEONE will get all their predictions right each week. Just won't be me :)

A link to an interview with the overall winners:

Some interesting tidbits there and perhaps strategy pointers for next year.

With their continued financial struggles and well-publicised scandals of 2016 fading in the mirror,  Scuderia Utz has been sold to a consortium of investors and hangers-on, who have recast the team as Ztun Rak Aspirations of Mediocrity Worldwide (Z-Ram-W).

No word, as yet, if any other teams have the nerve to challenge this emboldened backmarker, as it strives for the heady title of 'also ran'.

I've registered with the site whose name I can't remember but has taken over from Badger GP.
So far we haven't been able to choose our teams but must be imminent..

I registered, as well - there was a promise of an email when the leagues were ready to be populated and teams assembled. It never came

However, the site does look ready:https://fantasygp.com/

A tip of the hat to el-monty!

I will have to sharpen my game - only a correct prediction on the number of safety cars kept me out of last place.

It's neck and neck!  :drive:

One thing I don't understand about this league: do we eventually get more money to improve our teams, or are the 75 million all we can count on..?

If you register as a Pro (it costs £5 in the UK) then your budget is increased to £80 million.
I registered but didn't realise that until afterwards (I though everyone got £80 miliion...) but the extra £5 million is very useful!

I fully intended to watch this race (nothing else to do). My eyes closed after 4 laps. How on earth do FOM persuade new viewers to watch?

It was a lot better than nearly every race last year...
Trouble is, it doesn't resemble any other kind of motor racing; very little wheel to wheel stuff and you get 3 races in one: the front runners, the perennial back-markers and those in between.
Who actually wins seems to depend on strategy and tyre choices.  Once you get past all that it's sort of interesting, though it's only ever the start and the last couple of laps that you could actually call exciting.
Having your fantasy teams in Fantasy F1 improves the experience dramatically!

:-\ Well it seems I went from prince to pauper in that last race... but I will still give my team another chance at Sochi before thinking about rearrangements.

Not at all! My goal was to be mid-pack. With that race, I'm perfectly mediocre on the year. :)
