Title: Target 550 Update 187
Post by: RayTheRat on August 24, 2012, 02:39:23 PM
The Treit and Davenport streamliner was on the salt flats for display and a bit of "trial run" testing of the car carrier and the trailer, etc. It didn't compete at that event, but drew a whole lotta attention. In addition to the photos that Freud shot, I made a few myself. Ok, more than a few. A lot. I chose 48 of 'em to use in this week's post:

As I was looking over the photos and documentation for this project (I've been part of it for the last 3 years) I'm amazed at the amount of stuff that's been presented.  It has to be the most comprehensive "build diary" of a streamliner...ever.

I can't emphasize enough how well this car is designed and crafted.  To illustrate that point, I'll add a quote that Jim Jensen (Chief Starter and LONG-time salt flats veteran) made.  He told team principal Marlo Treit, "Marlo, I was wondering why it took ya 12 years to build it; now I'm wondering how ya got it done so quick."

Here's a sample:
