Title: The 2007 Australian GP
Post by: Ultra on March 15, 2007, 09:35:04 PM
In first free practice on a drying track Alonso set the fastest time.

Any thoughts on this race, anyone?

Ferrari 1-2.    I'm dead serious.

The red cars are lethal over the long runs.  Their knowledge of Bridgestone will show up on Sunday.  Qualifying will be closer than most expect.

It could very well be.  Fernando will try to have something to say about that.

I think Williams will do better than most expect and MUCH better than Toyota.

So, Mpat, will Kimi beat Massa?

I know you've been commenting that Williams would perform better for years, but their decline is totally evident to me.  I believe that they're going to get beat by both Super Aguris and will be racing the Spykers.  It's truely sad.

Yes, I think so.  Kimi's race pace will win out.  But Massa will take pole tomorrow.  They'll trade positions in the pit stops, and murmers of team orders will come up.

And I was watching live practice timing and scoring online, and on his last lap Kimi had just gone purple in sectors 1 and 2, then got blocked by Assholio.  He aborted the lap at that point.

Also as the track rubbers in more, I expect to see the gap increase from Ferrari to McLaren, but also expect BMW to get very close to McLaren.

Williams had not been in decline until they split with BMW.   I am hoping the alliance with Toyota will help staunch the bleeding.

I think Kimi will get him in the race also.  I think Alonso will get Massa in the race as well if his car is even close.  As the track rubbers in I am not sure tht Ferrari will benefit as much as you think.

Honestly....

I think Alonso is going to DNF as his welcome to McLaren.

Everything has changed, yet some things never change.  We shall see if that is one of them.

I think it will be Massa...he's the most comfortable right now.  He has the momentum of the team behind him, and Kimi is still learning how things work at Ferrari.  Alonso has to resort to unsportsman-like conduct to keep the red cars at bay, so there's uncertainty with his abilities in the McLaren...could be a wide open race, though.  A lot of new driver/car combos...should be an interesting opener to a very interesting season.

Kimi leads it by a half second.

Ant Davidson in the Super Aguri is within 4 tenths of Kimi in fourth place!!!   :o

Well, I certainly feel bad for Massa; but I have a driver, chassis and engine in the top 10...can't wait 'til tomorrow evening.  This is the most excited I've ever been about F1!

Massa will be in the top 5 by lap 20....  That is if he happens to get by Sato, and as long as Sato doesn't cause a massive crash in turn 1.  Both are real possibilities with the Kamikazee.

You weren't too far off...and at least I have an engine in the points...Lewis Hamilton is the next Tiger Woods!
