Ford? Piper? what is it?
« on: December 11, 2020, 02:17:47 PM »
A friend of mine is secretary for the Piper Owners Club. He's been asked to help identify this car, there is some known history and some 'believed'.  It is a 60/70s car the parts used are contemporary for the time. The car is registered as Ford, first registered 1973. It is thought that it was built as a prototype for racing, it has been dry stored for 20 years.
This car has a Piper badge but a very early yellow one. Bill Atkinson knows nothing about this car.
The car has been raced; it still has scrutineering sticker on the windscreen it is a tubular chassis mid-engine mounted crossflow. The gearbox is a beetle transaxle and it is thought to have Hewland internals.  The car front suspension is wishbones and coil overs with fully adjustable lower wishbones for camber and caster adjustments similarity to triumph spitfire GT and disc brakes from triumph spitfire. The rear suspension is coil over with rose joints on wishbones with alloy uprights drive shafts with Roto flex couplings to the trans axle. The car has interesting features for its age it has a complete flat underside apart from the sump. There is a protruding Aero dynamic spoiler bellow-at the front. The radiator and fuel tank are in the front. Brake and clutch are hydraulic pedals mounted on the floor.
The car was owned by Philip Williams noted motorcycle side car competitor builder and tuner, and the car is now in the hands of his son.

what a great one!
it's as sharp as a Lambo Count and has as much muscle feeling as Corvette!
