Conspiracy theory: The red car in the background looks like a 911 whose distinctive headlamp has been hastily removed via photoshop, perhaps to camouflage a potential clue....

Or perhaps I think too much.

How about a Glas?

Maybe a re-bodied Porsche 356.

Otto Puzzell

Not a Glas; not Porsche-based.

Dammit, the red herring has been kippered!
That ain't no Porsche in the background. Check the B-pillar profile on the passenger side.

Figure out that car and you're on your way!

The rest is left to you as an exercise.

His name is now Karnevil.

(As an aside, incorrectly trying to solve this puzzle led me to the Paxton Phoenix, so some good came out of it. However, nothing can explain my convoluted answer, except perhaps all the Redbull and Everclear.)

I focused on the hood, good catch on the B-pillar.

"KarnEvil" does have a certain ring to it...."Welcome back, my friends..."

For my part, my incorrect guesses led me the the Beach Mk4, which also made for interesting read.

Yeah, it caught me out also. Whatever it is, it has a 911-like windshield/hood area.

You gotta keep an eye on that Karnevil. He's a tricky one.

Now I'm off to look up a Beach Mk4

SeaLion

It is the suisse Filipinetti, with a two-seater GRP body and an air-cooled VW 1.6 litre engine. Made 1966-1967.

Otto Puzzell

That's the model designation. Who built it?

Could it be Sbarro perhaps? It's just a guess.

Sbarro Filipinetti is correct!

Franco Sbarro raced in a variety of cars - including Ford GT40's owned by Scuderia Filipinetti. When he decided to build his own cars for the street, beginning with the cars pictured above, he named them Sbarro Filipinettis. The blue car is a Filipinetti MK I, introduced in 1965. The red (herring) car behind it is a MK II, which was built in 1967.
