You think you know this car?
1 point for the builder's name
1 point for one of its owners
Enjoy!
This car is not (and was not intended to be) a replica of any kind.
The names I'm looking for are not obscure ones...

Beware of
easy puzzles by Paul Jaray... ;D
Those owners? Are they well known like Royalty?

Nothing like that.
If you search for this name (the owner) in Autopuzzles, you'll have 17 results...22 for the builder.
There can be a clue in the picture if you can see it...(It's barely visible but ...who knows...)
This car was featured in a trendy magazine in the 80s
Liberace?

Liberace?
Nope...it was a Motor Trend Magazine.
You all know these two names (famous owner, builder).
Is not easy to find a clue for a very known name...is like 'french metal building, very tall...'
C'mon you'll find it interesting...(well, I did...)
You won't have to look far away from the Automobile world...
Eiffel?
Yep, that was the example.
Any guess?
Somebody who buys a neoclassic Stutz is also able to buy this one: was the owner Elvis Presley?
Not Elvis Presley...I don't think we named him at Autopuzzles 17 times!
This man proved, beyond any doubt, that is taste for cars is refined...(and that's a big clue)
The builder selfbuilt this car and then gave it to this friend of his.
Brooks Stevens?
Not him...but you are on the very right track.
Raymond Loewy?
Not him...but it won't take long...
Virgil Exner?
Brooks Stevens
Raymond Loewy
Virgil Exner
Bruce Meyers?
Brooks Stevens
Raymond Loewy
Bruce Meyers
Virgil Exner
Last guess for now: Curt Brubaker?
You are thinking too complicated...this is a name you have to know.
Curt Brubaker is not THAT known.
This man can be associated to several cars, a very strange one in particular...it's not Bill Mitchell, none of the Italian designers...
Could be Franco Sbarro...
...not European...and not Harly Earl...
George Barris?
Not him...and not Tremulis...(those are all clues...)
Better-known for non-automotive industrial design?
Automotive! (Not Dutch Darrin or Northup...)
Frank Kurtis?
With Barris and Kurtis you are slightly going out of the track...Stevens, Loewy, Earl, Mitchell, Exner, and this one are in the same list...
Count Goertz? (he's at least half-European, though)
Dick Teague?
None of the above.
I'm sure it will be your next one...I can't think at any other big name!
Chuck Jordan?

Not him.
This man is closely and directly associated with some milestones in the american auto industry...you are dancing around that name!
Larry Shinoda?
Gordon Miller Buehrig?
Bill Mitchell?

Gordon Miller Buehrig?
Yes!!!
Gordon Buerhig owned this car up until the time of his death!
Was I misleading with my clues? OK, it's always easy when you know the answer...
Now the, slightly, harder part.
Who build it?
Was the builder also a designer?
Not a designer...but he designed and built his car....

You are right, we named him 24 times. ;D

;D
If "17" is the
Rosetta Stone, I'll say Colin Chapmann
Not CC.
We named him several times but in few topics...
Crikey!
Was the builder named in the course of guessing the owner?
Nope, He was named because we have another car he built and because of his multiple activities...
One of us knows everything there is to know about him.
The clue not visible in the picture is the mascotte he used in the other creation he made...but also there is not visible....
This car cames from the 70s and looks older...the other...well that's a totally different story...
William Stout?
Not him but you are on the right track.
This man built few cars (only 5) but before this article, only 1 was known...not very known but here at autopuzzles it is.
Dan Lee?
You are definetly on the right path.
Not him.
Ben Harris?
:applause: :applause: :cheer: :cheer:
We have a winner!
This is one of the 5 cars Ben built.
Here's the article:
:faint:
John found this article (and an incredible amount of other documents!) and suggested me to post it as a puzzle.
I would never thought there were 5 cars and looking to Ben's Speedster I'd bet they were all futuristic ones!
Certainly unexpected. You're breaking new ground with these, PJ.
Thank you...I like it when the solution cames with few clues and the detective work do the rest!
For all of you who are not familiar with Ben's works:
