That's a Microplas Mistral bodyshell, so the body was built in the UK or New Zealand.  However it's a LHD chassis, so I'm guessing the USA.

MGA chassis and engine?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Three questions in one reply:
1) That's a Microplas Mistral bodyshell, so the body was built in the UK or New Zealand: That's basically right, but it isn't a Microplas Mistral bodyshell
2) However it's a LHD chassis, so I'm guessing the USA: Partly correct
3) MGA chassis and engine?: No and no

As an editor, I should set a good example and follow rules  ;D.

However there is only 1 question in my post. Unlike many members I always place a question mark (sometimes called an interrogation mark) and this will indicate my question. The other parts of my post were just me writing down my thought process. I apologise for confusing you - I will think more clearly next time!

PS Someone has clearly copied a Microplas shell.

I agree with you, that from the photographed angle the bodywork looks like "Microplas Mistral". After the puzzle is solved, I will show you other pictures, which show great differences with the Mistral-body

This one could be a tricky one.
I do not want to interfere with your puzzle, but be aware that this is not the car they say it is.
